Constitutionally and legally, they aren't. Now if the Fed Gov would actually uphold the Constitution and their own laws, there never would have been any rogue "policy" illegally making them so.

LOL at liberals' totally fake "grunt work" meme. You need to read this thread in the Illegal Immigration forum:

Mayra Machado, a serial criminal, is an illegal alien who had a well-paying job as an ophthalmology assistant and drove a BMW until a routine traffic stop snagged her. The more one looks into her story to see how any of that even happened, the more one sees the additional crimes she's committed.

It's in the Congressional Globe, the official U.S. publication that documents the Congressional discussion of and therefore the intent of the 14th Amendment when it was proposed and passed. westcoastforme is correct.

I am?

Are you actually saying that any person not covered by diplomatic immunity who is within the US is not subject to our sovereignty?

So employers would need to pay more AND learn to treat their workers better, do you have a problem with that? I don't.

Only Mexico will grant citizenship based jus soli. The other countries follow jus sanguinis

That is still the ONLY existing exception to the "subject to the jurisdiction" requirement to this day.

Read the law. If everyone born in the U.S. were automatically a U.S. citizen, subsection (b) would neither be included nor necessary.
That's because Indians were not subject to the jurisdiction of the US. Again, were going right back to what I said. If you are subject to the sovereignty of the US, which Indians and those with diplomatic immunity are not, then whomever is born here is a US citizen by birth. The Indian Citizenship Act was necessary because Indians are not subject to the jurisdiction thereof, because of tribal sovereignty.
