We no sooner get done hearing about what a crappy and partisan job the media has done during the election then we now hear them decrying "fake news" and the web sites that bring it to the attention of the people. They don't want us talking about " fake news" on social media. They don't want us visiting websites that publish "fake news". So what is "fake news"? News that the media won't publish or that other sources other than the media have exposed? Is " fake news" bad because it's too damaging to very prominent people? Is the truth "fake news"?
The internet has been a Godsend to the people for releasing information and broadening discussion among billions of people. Not everything we read on it is true, but then again, neither is what we read or hear in the mainstream media. And if we shouldn't believe everything we read on the internet, certainly we shouldn't also believe everything the government tells us.
" Fake news" . You know, saying something is fake doesn't make it so. It could even make more people believe its true.
Interesting observation. Maybe the MSM is dog whistling, to an extent, because non-traditional news sources have eroded their influence, as well as their financial viability. Why not just broad brush stroke all alternative media with the fake news brush. Cast doubt by category association- none traditional or mainstream - on all non-traditional.
Yes, it is. I am not defending fake news but I am not blind to attempts to monopolize the market under the guise of fake news... fake news has never been a substantial problem, selective news has always been a problem....
We just witnessed the MSM spew months of propaganda and fake polls tying to get Hillary elected. They are the main source of fake news.
All Leftists have bad cases of projection disorder.
Amen.
(And, yes, that's so........ )
