Of course they should use it since the Dems used it to pass Obama Care. Harry Reid was the instigator and promoter of this move, so let the dems deal with it now.

There is of course no real possibility of the nuclear option. Simple. The Republicans can probably muster around 45 or 46 votes for it. Maybe even a couple higher. But they have no chance of getting 50 votes. Never.

There are a group of traditionalists in the Senate who will not allow it. The Democrats could not have gotten it on a broad change of cloture. The got it on the narrow subject of Court appointees only after the Republicans simply behaved very badly and were refusing to allow the government to function. And even then it was a cliff hanger.
