Actually, it was Mike Pence, the current Governor of Indiana who led the negotiation. He remains in a position to offer state incentives, assuming the state legislature agrees.

Perhaps the Ace card was Carrier's parent company, a defence contractor with $5.6 billion in government contracts and no stranger at the government well.

That would be hard for him to do. Carrier tweeted out that they had worked with Trump and Pence to keep 1,000 jobs in Indy.

Is the president-elect going to bribe...I mean, incentivize them all to save half the jobs in exchange for God knows what?
LOL! Wut?

That's the POINT...to keep ALL in the US by alleviating the ridiculous regulations and taxes put on American Companies (including small businesses, by the way) that enticed them to leave in the first place.

No more "global economy warming" the back pockets of 3rd world countries in hopes of dragging the US in to a 3rd world tail-spin by sending US jobs out of the US.

And what's to stop Carrier or anyone else from accepting a better offer from Mexico, or India, or China and leaving anyway?
Taxes to get their products BACK IN to the US. Have you NOT been paying attention?

Obama already gave Carrier millions in stimulus money, according to the "real news".

You're quite the troll.

You're quite the troll.
But it was nice of him to prove that Obama threw a pot of cash at Carrier and they laughed all the way to the bank, then started packing for Mexico. This must be embarrassing for him.

Growth depends on exports which depends on free trade.

Carrier, Lennox, Nortek, York, Daikin, Rheem and Trane all have operations in Mexico. The suppliers are all there. Three of these, Daikin, Trane and York are headquartered in Japan and Europe.

Mexico has more free trade agreements with the rest of the world and it matters. All these companies seek to sell their products to the 95% of the world's population who do not live in the US. Mexico is the gateway.

What would prevent them doing the same to Trump?

He still has 7 weeks before he's sworn in, and already he's doing things that Obama said was not possible.

We are going to win, and keep winning. We're going to get tired of winning all the time.

Well aren't you two just bastions of positivity. I once knew a girl who was constantly negative about every. fricken. thing so her parents took a video of her and showed her what she looked like. She didn't realize how awful she looked before that...changed her tune. You might try the same.

Meanwhile, in reality:

That was back in February. Yeah, they just angered and disappointed thousands as a "ploy".

Get real.
