You witnessed one of the most successful Presidencies in history. You'll be able to tell your grandkids about it. You personally witnessed the country being pulled from the brink of the second Great Depression through well considered policies, judicious application of policies geared toward helping the economy, saving the auto industry, regulating the financial sector to prevent a recurrence, increasing employment and GDP, and working on trying to do something about the health care problems in the country (although that failed). All without the help of half the politicians in the country, who were focused on a crazy birther movement, repeatedly demanding the President obtain a particular type of birth certificate from his birth state.
And then it was done. 3.2% GDP, the lowest unemployment rate in 9 years, Russia running scared, the deficit decreased signficantly, a rise in middle class wages, low inflation, low interest rates, a booming real estate market, a record hitting stock market even before the election. And one of the highest favorable ratings of an outgoing President, along with Reagan, Eisenhower, Bill Clinton.
Anyone who didn't recognize the history unfolding before them was truly small minded and unable to see events with clarity. But most recognized it. It didn't go smoothly. Getting out of a depression never goes smoothly, esp without cooperation from the other major party. But it was a remarkable feat.
Good going, Mr. President. Now let's hope we can keep things going. The unemployment rate is 4.6%. Lets see if the new President can get it down to 3.6% by this time next year. The GDP is 3.2%. Let's see if the new President can get it down to 4.2% by this time next year. Middle class wages are rising. Let's see if the new President's policies can keep those climbing. Russia is running scared. Let's see if Russia is still scared of us this time next year.
What a pleasure it was, having someone smart, decisive, optimistic, and classy to lead our country for eight years. A true natural leader. The one who decisively had Osama bin Laden executed, even though advisors were scared to go for it. The one who kept the country from falling into the Great Depression started by Republican policies and wars, like the last Great Depression.
It was historical. You will see that when you're older, and you will be able to tell people that you were alive when Obama was President. That you witnessed an historical era.
And he could tell a wickedly funny joke. One of the most humorous Presidents we've had.
Lincoln, FDR, Reagan, Bill Clinton, Obama. These were the greats. Whether one agrees with their policies and platforms or not.
Sadly, if our country collapses now, there would be no one left to tell about this and no one to listen, even if they did. I think our nation is about to face its greatest test. If we can survive what's coming, we truly are great.

Bush took more vacations than Obama. Trump is continuing the lying, saying he won't take vacations (but he's going to fly to his Tower every week, costing the taxpayers millions of dollars as he takes Air Force One and a staff of over 150 with him, who then try to secure the open place). So looks like he'll be vacationing every week.
But Trump won't take his salary. He'll take the millions of dollars in taxpayer dollars instead...every week.

Obama has one of the highest favorable ratings of an outgoing President of any President, along with Reagan, Eisenhower, and Bill Clinton. G W Bush had high ratings, too. Notice how it's men who are very smart, pleasant, smile quite often, and have a good sense of humor?
