Everyone learned that this election cycle, no? The landscape has forever changed. The public didn't believe the MSM's lies. That had to be a rude awakening for the MSM owners/editors. The public officially declared the MSM irrelevant. LOL!

…as the tone of the election grew darker and more bizarre by the day, President-elect Hillary Clinton “went high” when her opponent went even lower. No stranger to trudging through the mire of misogyny in her career as first lady, senator and secretary of state, President-elect Clinton continued to push for an issues-based campaign even as a handful of Trump’s most deplorable supporters, seeing the wide margin Clinton held among female voters, called to repeal the 19th Amendment. On Election Day, Americans across the country roundly rejected the kind of fear and hate-based conservatism peddled by Donald Trump and elected the first woman in U.S. history to the presidency.

It's laughably biased. This aside from being completely wrong.

Trotting out Miss America to get bash points against Trump is going high? She freaking based her final push 100% with the message about how sorry Trump was, nothing about why she would be a great candidate. That's going low. Also, I believe she was in cahoots with the media to release the Trump audio tape at the most damaging moment.

"My point is that publications make mistakes"

There is a BIG difference between making an honest "mistake" and NOT bothering to read an entire story you contracted out BEFORE publishing it.

THAT is an "omission" and very bad judgement.

The MSM is the mouthpiece of the Democratic Party. We'll find out in the next few months how much they have been paid over the past 8 years for their "service", and where the money has come from. I suspect it's taxpayer money from the Looter in Chief.

Let's break down what you asked.

Is the editor lying, or are they lying to salvage their lies?

Good Grief!

Call them what they are:

LIARS!

Nobody with a smidgen of a brain believes a single thing the media, including print media, says about a single thing. Nobody. Nothing.

LIARS!

Which came first? The lie or the lie to cover the lie?

An old, ugly, fat Miss America, to boot!

So those editors kinda missed their glaring headline in Truman vs. Dewey? They didn't read their own headline?

shocking!

What is "shocking" is your ignorance in NOT being able to differentiate the 2!

Most papers USUALLY make 2 headlines because they do NOT know who is going to win.

They HAVE to be prepared for either one of the candidates.

To NOT read an ENTIRE story you contacted out BEFORE publishing it is asinine.

Only a truly partisan person would try to deflect from what ACTUALLY happened and try to make your comparison.

With that, google and Yahoo, along with Titter, are now helping MSM silence the real news that is the internet.

Those that had it right all along are being censored, so the MSM fake non-news narrative, will have the soapbox.

Given the election outcome, it appears a lot of people have been on to the MSM fake non-news and rejected it outright for at least this entire year. They're smart enough to get the REAL news elsewhere. They know google, yahoo, twitter, facebook, etc., are censoring the REAL news and allowing only agenda-laden fake news instead.

It's over for the MSM. No sane person trusts them. And they're smart not to.

So. Its not a conspiracy. Its the idiotic "scoop" mentality of we gotta be first to print it. LOL @ done by a sub. BTW there are like a dozen similar things out at any news stand. The only one halfway worthwhile I saw was an Arnold Palmer one.

If it were my company and it was recalled, I woulda kept them and told them we lost them and just paid the bill. Its a collectors item.
