The Connecticut Superior Court dismissed this lawsuit, but the Supreme Court has decided to hear an appeal.
"In its decision to hear the case, the court accepted the families’ argument that the meaning of certain language in the state law must be determined by the high court."
I can't believe they're trying again. Going after language in a state law is not going to alter the fact that manufacturers can't be held liable for criminal use. Nor should they be liable. The specific argument, this time around? "The suit alleges that the AR-15 assault weapon used in the shooting was negligently entrusted to the public, and that the defendants violated the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA) in aggressively and unethically marketing the AR-15 to the public."
Negligently entrusted? It's a legal item, purchased legally. SMH.
This is the CT Supreme Court. I doubt this would ever make it to the USSC, but stranger things have happened. Like you, I'd love to hear what the lawyers and gun control advisors are thinking in private. Would probably frustrate the hell out of me, though.

...just an aside about how difficult it is to find info on this entire event
...i'm still trying to find the name of the hazmat company that was contracted to go in and clean up all the blood and human tissue from the shootings....the bodies were whisked away in the dark of night no doubt leaving a bio-hazard mess....therefore a certified hazmat company would have been needed to clean up the site...can't find this info anywhere
Suing Remington for the gun used in the shooting is like suing Chevrolet for the corvette used as a getaway car.
Sorry, you are using common sense. Not a trait of a liberal.
