Do we know this at this point. It's my understanding that most of this is speculation at this point?

Much better to pump a couple billion into a couple of Trumps personal aircraft. Saves the Taxpayers money.

And gives the Trump brand international exposure.

That Trump. Always looking out for the great unwashed.

Not.
The old Air Force One was worn out by obuma going to play golf.

Yea, get some cobbled together old Airbuses that have been flying the Nairobi to Mombasa route for the last twenty years. What the hell does he care, he"ll never fly in one, he'll be out of office by then.

The price for the planes themselves was probably less than what airliners pay, but after that they need to be equipped with all kinds of extras.

I am so grateful he sees all the waste. I hope he cuts entitlements to the one too. If you able bodied get a job or starve. If your hungry enough you'll work.

Navy One. The Presidential helicopter is Marine One and if a President were to fly in a civilian aircraft (fat chance of the Secret Service letting that happen), it would be "Executive One".

That being said, it's not even so much about a comfortable and safe plane as it is about the secure and reliable communications gear. AF 1 is designed with redundant communications systems to let the Chief Executive keep working as if he were in the White House or Camp David - even in case of crisis. That kind of stuff isn't bought off the shelf and jamming it into an airplane comes with an entirely new set of problems.

That being said, I still maintain a C-17 would be the obvious starting point.

Very customized and designed above a standard military specification. Systems and components that are all special and custom designed and built.

Perhaps. At any rate, it was a good move. I agree with this:
