I am sure my premiums are covering people who want that coverage.
People who have pre-existing conditions should be paying more than me. I have ZERO health issues. I see the doctor once every few years for checkups and I am 53.
So how would that work? Would you be able to pick which conditions you want covered? If not everyone was covered for child birth, what if you changed your mind, should you be able to add that coverage when your wife is pregnant? If you or your wife suffered from severe depression should you be able to add that coverage at the time you need it?

The government isn't setting these rates, insurance companies are...I don't see a way that Republicans can make healthcare less expensive. They can cover fewer people, cover fewer conditions, or make individuals pay more for their coverage, thus saving the government money but I don't think finding something to replace the ACA with is going to be easy. But I am open to looking at options, I just haven't found any realistic ideas for replacement.

They have come up with several plans, including the most recent by Speaker Ryan and the Republicans, which was methodically developed by Congress. Here is a link to the Republican's alternative plan:

A Better Way to Fix Health Care

Now you will have to find something else to whinge about.

"whinge"???
I had already looked at that, it's not a plan. It is a list of "ideas" with no details and some of the ideas are truly terrifying like this one:

"For people without access to employer coverage, Medicare, or Medicaid, our plan offers a refundable tax credit to help buy health insurance in the individual market." Which seems to infer no more medicare, that seniors will get some kind of tax credit and be required to buy policies directly from insurance companies

"Prohibit Sudden Cancellations" That means you can be cancelled an in all likelihood not be able to buy any insurance but they have to give you advance notice.

I'm sorry but I don't see anything there that is going to make healthcare more affordable.

First, Obamacare is going to be repealed.

Second, that is a plan, what it is not is a bill. However, what "plan" or "bill" did Obama and the Democrats in Congress have available for the public in December 2008, prior to their beginning work on Obamacare?

They were supposed to be working on our financial crisis, and instead they went all in on a health insurance reform plan, which they obviously botched in epic fashion. Where was the "plan" for Obamacare in 2008, even one as good as the "A Better Way" plan that I provided you a link to above?

They did not have even that. So, stop whinging.

ABC news posted today that a full repeal of Obamacare would immediately wipe out health insurance for 30 million Americans who rely on it in some way for insurance. Medicaid, subsidies, staying on parents plan until 26, etc. I sure hope Trump has a good plan.

If they posted that this is what the Republicans are planning to do, then this article is a great example of "Fake News" by ABC, since literally nobody is advocating that and that is not what is going to happen, and they know it.

I hope that the Republicans do repeal the ACA, it will be the biggest mistake of any Republican congress, I just can't wait to see the down ballot consequences in future elections.

The problem is they have NOTHING to replace it with and my question in this thread was specifically 'what' do they want to replace it with, you offer a list of 'ideas' and tell me it's a plan and then say I am 'whinging' I am still curious about how they plan on keeping their pledge to the public that they will replace it with something that is better and cheaper, it simply does not seem possible.

So what are Republicans planning exactly? All they talk about is repeal.

I think https://abetterway.speaker.gov/_asse...e-Snapshot.pdf

is just rhetorical nonsense.

If you want to see what the repubs might do after a few years of destroying the ACA, watch this video
