American companies didn't stop producing goods because their work was inferior. They were sold out by undercutting American businessmen and retailer who wanted the extra buck they could get from either having it made in China or purchased from China, India, etc. They couldn't compete against slave labor wages paid in other countries.

Actually it wasn't bought as motorcycle jacket, as I said it's more casual and something the average person would wear. It's the cheapest one they make and the only one I could find that was what I was looking for and fit the budget. The other ones I were finding were too dressy and/or very expensive.

Like I said, I am about price and quality and I don't care who makes it. If it is made poorly, I don't want it, if it is made well, but it costs an arm and a leg, I don't want it and I don't care what little "made in..." sticker is on it. Like I said, America was not made great on handouts, it was made great on quality and drive to produce. If America isn't up to that task, then unfortunately, it doesn't deserve the business.

Now keep in mind, I am not saying we should give up, I want America to be the best of the best, the top of the top, etc... in the world again, but lets not lie to ourselves, we are lacking in some areas, but... we can make them better and I am willing to buy IF they earn it. If they don't then they didn't earn it and they don't deserve to be in business. That... is... the American way.

It always comes down to an evaluation of product price and quality. Either they compete, or they don't.

Now WHY they can or can not is an issue that should be visited and most likely what you will find is we are killing our businesses with taxes and regulations.

I refuse to give MORE money to an "American" business simply because our idiot government taxes and regulates them to death. Maybe we should fix that problem before we throw our money away for nationalist BS?

You made the argument, don't be lazy, you can defend your position. If I had to "educate" myself because some idiot on the Internet made a vague argument, I would be reading 24/7. I asked you a legitimate question, you can answer or don't bother starting threads?

The only thing those companies care and should care about is can they sell their product. When Joe Schmoe walks into the shoe store and sees a pair of Made in the USA Red Wings boots for $300 and sitting next to it is a similar boot for $100 most of them are going to buy the $100 boot.

At least Trump got enough sense to tax the heck out of companies who do that under his watch.
It's not just US companies that will be affected that are importing products and this is only one cog in his overall economic package. While that tax is punitive his other policies are going to create a business friendly environment not because they have to but because they will want to.

Designed, Cut and Sewn in Los Angeles | American Apparel

Nope, I am not paying these prices. I will get out my sewing machine for my own "Made in America" because I not paying these kinds of prices for one pair of jeans.

WHY do you think they are going bust? Hint. They have to pay American WAGES, not CHINESE wages.

Made in the USA? I can assure this jacket is on a whole other level where quality is concerned compared to some Chinese jacket. The local leather shops was first place I went looking for them and those $100 jackets are junk compared to this. It's also guaranteed for life; if the zipper breaks, the stitching comes apart or button fails you can send it back and get it fixed for free.
