SYG/Castle Doctrine laws allow you to defend yourself against a threat providing you have not provoked the confrontation. It's not a license to kill, basically it prevents law enforcement or a prosecutor from second guessing your actions to use deadly force when it's determined the homicide was justified.

Gasser was lawfully inside his vehicle when the confrontation began.
Additionally, it will be very difficult for the prosecution to prove Gasser provoked him, especially since the only video I have seen shows McKnight pursuing Gasser.
Right now, I'm just going by the law and the evidence being reported. If more video shows up, that could change things.
