No shortage of local coverage.

Judge tells man accused of beating woman, 94, 'Citizens of Chicago are not safe' with you on street - Chicago Tribune

Guy sounds like a real sweetheart. 4 prior felony convictions and now charged with 3 separate robberies in the area as well as car theft. He, like most serial robbers, preys on the vulnerable. Judge denied bail.

Should Fox, CNN and MSNBC report on the THOUSANDS of violent crimes that occur in all over the US, every day?

The victim escorted sailors to/ from deployment ships in NYC, during WW2. Media of all colors never fails to mention that a victim of crime was a veteran because it is more likely to get more attention/ clicks.

1,165,383 violent crimes- 3,193 / day

8,277,827 property crimes - 22,679 / day

11,205,833 arrests- 30,701 / day

The vast majority of these crimes are local news.

How many of these crimes do you expect CNN, MSNBC and HuffPo to cover? What reasonable criteria could they use to cherry- pick?

Is there a reason why you chose to leave out Fox News, very much a part of MSM?

He's been denied bail.

Given his prior convictions and that he has been charged with 4 separate instances of felony crimes, it's unlikely he is going to get bail or be able to make bail if some judge reconsiders.

Baltimore would be a much better example of this. Baltimore has the 2nd highest murder rate for a major city. It has gun laws stricter than that of Chicago. It is in a state with gun laws stricter than Illinois. Maryland borders Pennsylvania, which also has some strict gun laws. Doesn't stop Maryland as a state from being more murderous than Illinois. Those who don't value life do not care. Most murders are committed by those who are young, angry, and see nothing to lose for themselves, many were often abused as children.

If he's been in and out of prison much of his adult life, something tells me this prison stint won't do anything.

I disagree. Many people who rob and hurt other people themselves often meet an early death. When your philosophy is "life fast and die young", age 30 is considered old. When you don't expect to live long, a public hanging won't work. When there is no fear or shame, it won't work.

Pardon?

Chicago is in 24th place for Violent Crime Rate in the US. Some of these top 23 cities have looser and stricter gun laws than Chicago.
