My God what is so hard to understand about the fact of government being at a much higher level of security than private enterprise? Business hacking can be a very trivial thing when compared to the security of the state. I'm going to assume that you do know this but because it doesn't fit your political agenda you choose to conveniently dismiss this difference. And please don't attempt to put jam on that turd by calling into question the role of the DNC as a thing not "technically" the government.

When citizens come to expect a complete transparency of the state security measures in order to assuage their deepest political emotions, those citizens will have forfeited their security in exchange for a twisted political logic. I'm really bothered by the fact that we as a nation have become so politically divided that we now advocate for those who do not have our best interest at heart and worse, they may well be taking advantage of that national rancor. Trump doesn't measure up to what I expect from a leader of the United States---But, I also don't expect him to do anything too revealing in terms of our national security in order to advance his political agenda..

Now you see why the term "hacked" is being used ? Hacking denotes a true victim. One who followed all the standard safety rules to safeguard important information, but someone "hacked" into their email anyway. The other denotes a person who is very stupid (or at the very least naïve) and fell for the oldest trick in the book. This man should be nowhere near a computer containing anything that should be private.
Hacking can be a very simple thing, or it can be a very complex task, but please don't expect us to accept your lame notion of Podesta's computer security breach as something akin to standing on the street corner and just accidentally allowing the Russians to obtain the necessary info to allow them access. Hacking is hacking and needs no further definition. But nice try..

Indeed, phishing and spear-phishing are types of hacks.
