The head of the Dept of the Interior was announced today - Ryan Zinke. Dept of Interior consists of National Parks, National Forests, National Seashores and other similar lands owned by the US Government.
The new leader is pro energy/pro oil and gas. Seems they are going to try to open National Parks and National Forest lands for oil and gas drilling(see red quote below - pay special attention to "used effectively" which means open the national forests up for energy use). They might give 100 year leases to their billionaire buddies .
Zinke is a strong advocate for American energy independence.
.. he supports an all-encompassing energy policy that includes renewable, fossil fuels and alternative energy," Miller said. "Additionally, Congressman Zinke believes we need to find a way to cut through bureaucracy to ensure our nation's parks, forests, and other public areas are properly maintained and used effectively."
You realize that National Forests, not Parks, are specifically set up to take advantage and use the resources, trees for lumber and extractive industries?
The worst thing that happened to the Forests was environmentalists tying up timber harvests the last couple or three decades. Many are now past climax phase and the trees are dying of old age. Meanwhile we're having to import lumber from Canada.
You forgot some: wind, solar, biofuels, geothermal...
Wind and solar will never replace base load energy like fossil fuels, nuclear and hydro.
biofuels like algae based ones are interesting but very expensive.
Geothermal long term will probably be the long term solution because it can provide base load and sans some major technological breakthrough like fusion that is what my money is on. We could jump start that, let's rip up Yellowstone. What do you think?
That is one of the problems facing geothermal, the most desirable locations where the heat of the earth is near the surface are typically protected areas for obvious reasons.
The thread titles is probably accurate, but is appears to have been turned into a comedy thread.... by all the people trying to defend Trump.
The entire cabinet he has assembled, should tell people something, but as usual many are blind minded. Most of the people he picked want to overthrow something and disband something. The only thing left his for him to have a mass disaster once he has the seat of office secured, is to have a situation where he can install martial law, and during the process establish himself as a dictator.

He has dispensed with Security briefings, because within his plan it does not matter, he is counting on President Obama to stave off any conflict until he is confirmed in office and can get in the seat, and then "whamo", catastrophic event !!!! Then.... calling for Martial Law across the nation. Claiming to calm the nation, while he actually prepares to emerge as the new Dictator.
He chose all the old pissed off Generals who wanted to have it their way, and now he's given them a platform and they will move at his beck and call. He has his department destroyers in place and has given them the go ahead to start their dismantling process. When he can make the people destitute and devoid of hope, then they will follow him even more so with their "heil to Trump" obsessive devotion. It appears the Confederacy styled system has set out to re-assemble itself but with a few twist and turn in programming, They will simply attempt to go for full bore "indenturing" the poor, because he know slavery will never be granted a revival. Today, the Indenturing system has been taught in the universities for more than 100 yrs. so, they know that programming as its been tested and re-tested. The nut case Carson is in place to dole out the rations.
Get ready for Russian style corruption to become standard practice, and Trump has been training for that his whole life in "gangster land", and now he has the White House Office to conduct the syndication he's long desired.
Most Republican and Trump worshipers still have not figured it out, nor will many of them, they are still waiting on their case of free pass and rations along with a vouchers. The game plan may even include mass street level mayhem, to thin out the population..... Maybe people should prepare for hell in the making....!!! rather than running around thinking Trump is going to throw a Mass Party Style Ball for the people of America.

I'd prefer a better scenario, that he could be or become someone who had true humane concerns, but that simply has not been demonstrated in the span of his life nor the conduct of how he has lived his life. It would be idealistic to think he and his Billionaire buddies would make a fair and equitable system where all could prosper and do well, but most did not become billionaires by having such a mindset. The Oil man at the State Dept now, has been fueling conflicts around the globe for more than three decades, so his appointment bring a question to mind, how does a leopard change its spots?
Trump has done what he could to fueled up the racist and Alt Right Extremist, and then installed their Head Master to a post that is practically at his right hand beck and call, ready to act on demand.
Again, I'd prefer to see a unity builder and a system where the focus is on the betterment of lives for the American people. The oddity of fact is, Trump bleed his Casino's of cash until they crashed and never thought much about the people who worked those jobs trying to raise families. They were dispensed with and likely they many not have even received a functional severance package.
This however is a man, who sued cities for tax concession, knowing that burden would fall on the citizen population to cover the expense of those concession, then turn around and stiffed the IRS, for nearly a billion dollars then brag and boast about it and claim himself all wise behind such a swindle. It just does not appear that he has the people as the primary interest. It is unlikely that any Megalomaniac has ever been driven by a sincere concern for the people. They care about Power and Money. But the people can't say, he did not tell them who he is... he told them over and over, he said, he could shoot someone on Times Square and people would still follow him, and then he followed it up continually telling the people, "I am the ONLY ONE" who can fix your lives.
In all these things, not much has been said concerning the word God.
The best scenario is to hope he does not become what is described. but, only time will tell.
In case you haven't been paying attention (and it appears you haven't) the Saudi's have been talking of cutting production for months. This is doesn't have anything to do with Trump, and oil prices will rise, as they always do when production is cut, reducing supply. That is how the Saudi's have always manipulated oil prices.
However, Trump plans to end restrictions on U.S. exploration and production, which will have the opposite effect.
