Vladimir Putin shares his observations about the aftermath of the US elections, shaming Democrats for their disgraceful behavior, even accusing them of having forgotten the meaning of their own name. He went on to call them sore losers who were trying to shift responsibility for their losses (not just in the presidential race) to external factors.
Putin then called out the Democrats for "shamelessly" abusing their status as the ruling party to try to influence public opinion, which is what the content of the leaked emails clearly demonstrated they were doing. "Outstanding figures in American history from the ranks of the Democratic Party would likely be turning in their graves. Roosevelt certainly would be," he said.
Putin did not speak to Russian involvement in any hacking, an activity that it is widely acknowledged that we are as routinely involved in as they are. Instead he said who it was that hacked the information was not important, while the activities that the Democrats were engaged in that were revealed certainly were. He dismissed accusations that he or the Russians had tried to help Trump to win, saying "its not like that".
Vladimir Putin praised U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Friday, saying he had his finger on the pulse of U.S. society, and launched a scathing attack on the Democrats, saying they had forgotten the meaning of their own name and were sore losers.
"The current administration and the leadership of the Democratic Party are trying to blame all their failures on external factors," Putin told reporters. "(We are talking about) a party which has clearly forgotten the original meaning of its own name," Putin said, accusing the Democrats of "shamelessly" abusing their status as the ruling party to try to influence public opinion. "Outstanding figures in American history from the ranks of the Democratic Party would likely be turning in their graves. Roosevelt certainly would be," he said.
The White House and U.S. intelligence officials have accused Russia of trying to interfere with the U.S. election by hacking Democratic Party accounts. Information from those hacks was leaked online, causing political problems for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Putin dismissed suggestions Moscow had helped Trump to victory in any way however. "It's not like that," he said. "All of this (the accusations) speaks of the current administration's systemic problems."
In a democracy, the candidate with the most votes wins. That's how it works.
"The most fundamental concept of democracy is the idea that government exists to secure the rights of the people and must be based on the consent of the governed."
This time around, nearly three million more people voted for the other candidate.
When Bush "won" without a majority of the voters, everyone sort of shrugged and said how bad could it be. Then we found out.
This time around, folks are not nearly as complacent. Trump does not have the consent of the majority of voters. Both he and the Republicans are aware of this and are likely to push their agenda as fast as possible as they realize they don't have much time.
I also suspect that a many of those who voted for Trump in the mistaken belief that he is "for the people," will soon have some eye opening experiences.
But the real question here -- What Putin is up to?

The United States is not a democracy and it has never pretended to be. Read the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, and the Constitution.
The so-called quote you cite is fake news, and you know it.
The States (and also counties and municipalities), united under the Constitution in a representative republic, are a collection of sovereignties. That's how it works.

Trying to survive as a sovereign power.
As for the election result (which is an affair of the States who send representatives, there are no federal elections in a legal and sovereign sense), we don't need Putin to tell us what the electorate already knows: the so-called democrats need to look in the mirror to understand why they lost the election.
But they are in denial and in any case their vision is impaired.
What's more curious is that the Trumpettes come across as poor winners. Such a nasty crowd.
Oh the Dems have no moral high ground on this issue. When Obama won the Dems were absolutely shameless in their crowing. The dems in office used their majority to force an absolutely bad law upon the people. The ACA. Remember the words by Pelosi " We have to vote for it to see what's in it"? No valid attempt was made to reach across the aisle. The GOP actually predicted most of the ACA's failings, but were shouted down.
I'm and Ind, and I pretty much detest hard liners from both parties.

Indeed. Instead of trying to pull folks together, it appears that Trump, Conway, and Putin are doing their best to drive the wedge in further.
It may well be that this is the best thing to ever happen to the progressive movement. No longer will it be enough to just send your annual donation to Planned Parenthood and renew your subscription to Vanity Fair.
Trump promised to bring back the past, bring back well-paying, low-skilled jobs... Let's see how that works out.
