I would have preferred a title along the lines of "the problem with majority perspective on race". But here in the US that would be the same as the title of the class.
Doesn't matter to me whether or not whites are the majority. Bad behavior is bad behavior.

They shouldn't receive federal funding for this racist garbage.

Every single person has a 'privilege' over someone else but that's not how you play the game.
The way to play is to point out privileges you see in others while claiming you have none.

If there is a "white" privilege, then we should all be happy about it. There are people being treated nicely by others, it is not a bad thing. I want everybody around me to be treated well, I want everybody around me to live a good life. If my friends, loved ones, family members are treated well because of the color of their skin, then I feel HAPPY for them because I LOVE them.

Are you claiming white people in power have never favored other whites?

Imagine the huge outrage if they offered a "Problem of Blackness" class.

In my humble opinion, some of this so called white privilege is really just majority privilege. It is nothing new.

Classes like this will never make minorities feel good about themselves. I don't know the purpose of it, to be completely honest.

It is not okay to be racist towards white people.
And how do you know what conclusion they will come to in the course? I haven't enough knowledge of the course or instructor to make a judgement, but if the teacher is worth their salt, these questions are not meant to lead to one conclusion, but rather to start a discussion.

I disagree completely.

I want to be treated nicely for who I am, not what color I am.

Maybe I am a bit sensitive to this as I am a female scientist in a typically male dominated field, but twice I have gotten selected for research cruises and later found out it was because the PI (same guy) thought I was attractive and said something along the lines of "wouldn't you rather look at that all day than" the other guy who could have gone instead of me. That is a certain sort of privilege too, and I feel the same way about both, sort of gross.

I wanted to be picked because I work hard and I am good at my job, not because the PI thought I looked cute on deck.

well, because based on the article,

In this class, we will ask what an ethical white identity entails, what it means to be #woke, and consider the journal Race Traitor’s motto, ‘treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity.'”

Please explain, how treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity?

Plus, what exactly is whiteness?

Yes, I concede the point, I think I would have been better served to say "majority privilege". Thanks for the correction.

But at the same time I don't think the purpose of a class like this is to make anyone feel good, or anyone feel bad, it is to better understand the dynamics of our society, and to shape it in a way that is more fair to everyone.
