Yes, it's just stupid to secure our borders just as long as we have home grown criminals already here. Let's import more from the outside.
Securing your borders or building a wall make up your mind! Your lower border has been porous because that's the way YOU wanted it. Your northern border has acquiesced to every demand you placed upon your neighbour to secure it.

Last I heard there have been an astounding number of illegals flooding into the country. 46,000!
How many are good people? I doubt any of them as we have a front door that welcomes people who have papers. Maybe in the past good people in need came illegally here but nowadays I doubt that people with good intentions are coming here illegally.

OP's actual question is asking about "Open Borders" which only exists in Europe..NOT in North America and many other Countries.
I do agree open borders don't work especially since the various Countries do NOT share information amongst themselves..THUS "BAD ACTORS" can move seamlessly from Country to Country... Valuable lessons have been learned..weaknesses have been exposed and refusal to SHARE informations only enables infiltration..
THIS is NOT how it is in North America..Sure a few may filter thru.especially with the existing Work Visa program, when Corporations bring in outsiders to make profit ..then have ZERO responsibility to make THEY return after contract expires! These workers often disappear into the American fabric of society.. Visa Employment must be more tightly monitored and Corporate businesses MUST be held accountable for each and every one of them!!
There's also propaganda that gets many to become radicalized ( downside to freedom)..and yes..even Citizens, born within the borders can and do when they feel disenfranchised to the Country they live in!! Experience will be teach both positive and negative to those who live in Countries with "Freedoms"..
But fixes will take time.. Meanwhile, be vigilant and recognize when a family member changes personality behaviours..report it etc...
