This gun grab might be true,
Yesterday the sheriff knocked on my door and told me that they were verifying my gun purchases that were on record in the local gun shops.
I asked him what was that all about.
He said Obama is coming for your guns before Jan 20 so you can either give them to us for safe keeping or you can tell Obama that some black guys broke into your home while you were at church and stole your guns, everybody uses that one.
You know I am telling the truth because you read it on the internet.
As I said...PTSD covers a LOT. Not all PTSD is created equal. What a combat veteran experiences with it isn't what a rape victim or severe trauma victim gets. PTSD does not mean prone to violence. Seeing Charlie crawling in the bedroom window or waking up choking your lady from a waking nightmare. We've all heard the stereotypes. Sheesh, there's a remote chance the most pacifistic person on the planet could snap and become violent.
Violent people acquire guns and all manner of weapons every moment of every day. A violent , criminal nature is a mental illness, yes? Sure, it sounds great to say we are going to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, but it will never happen.
Mental illness is far from an exact science as is the case with PTSD, we should be erring on the conservative side. Defining mental illness is difficult even for professionals.

What is the right wing going to freak about when the boogeyman leaves office and they can't claim "gun control/police state/socialism" is just around the corner? Alot of manufactures of pending doom themed stories are gonna be one of the many groups that are screwed once Donald is in.
Also, "slippery slope" isn't a be all, end all of arguments against a policy. Yall use it too often.
Assuming that you DID have a job and have since retired, who do you think created that job? A millionaire. Who do you think signed your paychecks? A millionaire.

When we're talking about Constitutional guarantees, we don't cast wide nets that unilaterally strip a person of their rights without even due process... you know... "just to be cautious"....
But, you can't be trusted to discuss this topic in good faith, because you don't consider owning a gun to be a Constitutional Right which is why you put so little premium on it and could care less who it gets stripped away from.

Consitution aside this makes a lot of sense, removing rights from someone that might very well have some severe mental issues is a step in the right direction. I don't want to see all guns removed just some, this isn't someones livlelyhood being impacted just gun rights.
I keep hearing that gun owners want to see mental illness addressed but even when it is addressed in the most minimal fashion they cry foul, so which is it and how do you propose they address mental illness. Maybe hire a few million more psychiatrists and lawyers to run people through the system for a few decades?
