In her three tweet tirade, Barr compared what Obama did with the U.N. to what the Nazi’s did in Germany — passing their anti-Jewish laws right before a Jewish holiday.
nazis enacted anti jewish laws on the eve of jewish holidays-exactly as @POTUS has done on eve of Hanukkah. Don't light candles 2night, BHO!
Obama will have no legacy, no library and no statues after 1/20. He will disappear into the nothingness as Bush had done before him. Trump OTOH is entering office as a businessman and not a politician, so we will see how a businessman runs a country as of 1/21.
Some in Congress are upset about this. Not because Obama made the agreement to give away other people's money. Instead, they don't care for the terms, including precluding Israel from asking for more, more, more as they have been prone to do. It also stipulates that Israely must use the gift to pay for military equipment from the US instead of elsewhere. What was the Obama Admin thinking to put conditions on the hand out.
Instead of having to impose higher taxes on their people for defense, Israel can use a portion of their tax revenue for a world class Universal Healthcare System and public universities.
Let's not confuse Zionism with the Jewish faith.
Furthermore, there are over 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, over 85% of which support a Palestinian state. Recently, much of the Arab world watched the news in horror as Israel bulldozed scores of Palestinian homes to make room for new Israeli settlement construction on lands where Palestinians have lived for decades. The President's #1 responsibility is to keep Americans safe, and tacitly supporting this Israeli action -- by exercising a veto over (i.e., silencing) just about every other country's condemnation -- would be tantamount to declaring war on 1.6 billion Muslims (in their eyes).
We must absolutely continue to provide aid to Israel to help ensure their security. At the same time, IMO, we shouldn't condone behavior that would jeapardize our own country's security. In this case, we didn't even condemn Israel's actions like other countries; all we did was remain silent when just about every other country condemned Israel's actions. We should not make a habit of defending questionable (or indefensible) behavior by an ally when it will embolden our enemies (and create millions of new ones) and jeopardize Americans' safety at home and abroad.

It was not legal for the surrounding countries to attack Israel in 1967 during the six-days war (research this for some more background on this) with the intention of annihilating Israel either, under the theory that "to the victor goes the spoils" and that "might makes right".
But these Middle-Eastern countries did not annihilate Israel, in fact just the opposite occurred. Israel, an upstart nation that had existed less than 20 years in this iteration beat the crap out of this coalition of forces, pushing them back and taking more land for themselves, especially in the West Bank. So, "to the victor goes the spoils" and "might makes right," no? This still worked for Russia just a few years ago in the Crimea, so it is not like it is an obsolete concept or anything.
The West Bank and Jerusalem are the land areas that are in question. The problem is that the West bank is just an open territory and is not a nation. After Israel conquered this land, in response to being attacked during the six-days war, they have as much right to build houses here as anyone else does. Where they have chosen to do this, these areas are called "settlements".
You might also consider studying the events leading up to the formation of Israel in 1948, just after the Holocaust during WWII. However, the history goes back to the 1800's and is referred to as the "Zionist" movement. The US sponsored the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1948 and has been their unflinching ally ever since, until the vote last week by our petulant child President, Barack H. Obama. There is also a movie about the creation of Israel starring Paul Newman called Exodus, which was made in 1960. It is entertaining and also quite informative.
Also, this all ties in with Biblical prophecies about the restoration of Israel, which was wiped out by the Romans shortly after the death of Jesus Christ, with the Jews left wandering without a country for nearly 2000 years until their country was re-established in 1948. This was a really big deal. If you want to know more, you need to study the Bible prophecies relating to the re-establishment of Israel. As a result of these and other Biblical reasons, Bible-believing Christians here in the US and around the world tend to be very supportive of Israel. You cannot understand this issue without understanding the religious context provided by the Jewish, Christian and Islamic religions to this ongoing conflict.
Its simple OP. Israel doesn't think they should be forced to obey international law and are throwing a fit liken to a 2 year old over it. Bout sums it up.

Reason enough for the US to withdraw from the region.
There's nothing anti-semitic or anti-Israel about opposing illegal settlements. As a Jew, I would have been furious if Obama had OKed a veto. Not in my name.
What am I missing? Other than US and Israel are friendly nations, what actual reason is there for US to veto the vote?
The best analogy I can think of is 2 brothers with one picking on everyone while knowing that their bigger, stronger UFC fighter brother will step in to help. At some point, after telling the little brother to stop it, the bigger brother is not going to step in.
and No..if Israel is wrong, I do not think US should veto a resolution simply because we are friendly nations. To me, that is not a valid reason.
They expected a veto, and when they didn't get it, they are now accusing US of orchestrating the whole resplution, and that US is lying about it. US policy has been opposed the settlements, and some presidents have been quite hard about it, like Bush who threatened to cut all aid to Israel. In the end of the day, the vote will change nothing. I don't know why Israel keeps expanding the settlements knowing the whole world considers is illegal.
