It's not the fault of "defense contractors"
as you say. They're nothing if they hadn't been empowered by their buddies in the Pentagon and Congress. You'd take the money too if it was on the table.
Wait... it's not their fault they're simply playing the game? That is exactly why it's their fault as much as anyone else.

No, you'd take the money, obviously.

Please don't try to include me in your attempt to absolve bad players.

But you WOULD take the money. In a heartbeat. You're in no financial position to turn it down. You know it, and so do i. You're not that noble, believe me.

Enough with the "Wows" that don't come remotely close to wowing anyone OP. Ever hear of "overkill"? Look it up. And while you are at it, look up "contrived".

You can't see any problems with this?

You mean Obama?

$80M in vacations that we tax payers have footed. He has been the most expensive high maintenance President in history. GWB mostly vacationed at his ranch and family home in Kennebunkport, while the Obama's have always chosen to stay in exclusive and very very expensive resorts and clubs.

Trump won't even take a salary!

The number of vacation days President Obama has taken since the beginning of his presidency stood at 161 days. If you add the 28 days of vacation he has taken this year his total comes to 189 days. If you add his current vacation in Martha’s Vineyard to the mix that still puts him at under 200 days so far. .
However his predecessor, two-term President George W. Bush, took 879 days of vacation, including 77 trips to his Texas ranch according to a report by The Washington Post.
According to The Washington Post, “No modern president took less vacation than Jimmy Carter (79 days), while Ronald Reagan spent 335 days at his beloved California ranch.â€

now did he spend more?? Sure- nothing goes down- fuel- people- salaries- etc and O home was Hawaii - if we elected another person from there that would even cost more in the next 4 yrs. but time off bush got him beat and I expect TRUMP will beat them all as he plans to be part time pres. - we shall see

You can bet that if Hillary had been elected none of the price reductions would have occurred.

WINNING! Lockheed to lower cost on F-35; Trump win for TAXPAYERS!

(and before you can call GWP "fake news", remember they called the election correctly when the MSM was insisting that Hillary would win )
Such a stark difference between the pres elect and the outgoing pres. Where Obama would gladly let these programs become entangled with red tape, regulations, advisory committees and cost overruns for good effect, Trump saw the price was spiraling out of control and said enough is enough. Did Boeing and LM complain that much?. No. They took the price down.

The day when we all get rid of Jug Eared Soft Stick one, will be a great day for us all. For the sake of not just the USA but the rest of the World, we need Obama out fast.

Curious how you come to believe as you do, but I'm sure some explanation is tied to why you read the likes of GP (and why you refer to it as GWP)...

I'm all for giving Trump credit where credit is due, and even small "wins" are better than no wins at all, but you are not just a little concerned about the way Trump is going about targeting specific companies and doing so with the added advantage of picking and choosing his tweet-worthy "wins?"

If anyone is okay with all of that (rather than fixing the problems that create these cost excesses in the first place), Trump is going to be extremely busy over the next four years just targeting the rest of the companies and contractors that make up the annual U.S. military budget now at about $600 billion.

That and then all the other companies and contractors that do business with the government for all the other goods and services provided is going to make for an awful lot of Trump tweets, "unpresidented" for sure, but more effective than just publicity "wins?" One really has to wonder.

Sure wish Trump tweeted the auto makers about lowering their costs and upping their fuel efficiency before we bought our new car, but who can say which car company Trump might target for that or how long it will take for that industry to be the next focus of his tweets? Quite a few sell lots of cars to the government too after all...

Does the fewer American troops killed and all that money not being spent in Iraq not count for anything then?
