well, cut off funding to Israel sounds good in theory, but in reality, you have to be very careful about this.
1. Israel is a point from which the US can project force into the Middle East if necessary.
2. Some Senator said this, (which is true) Israel is the America's aircraft carrier in the Middle East.
3. Israel is a big buyer of American arms.
4. Most importantly, Israel has a superior espionage operation all over the Middle East, much better than the CIA's.
5. American Jews and Israeli–Americans are heavily involved in US politics, and have a noticeable influence on American policies.
6. evangelical Christians, a large and growing population in the US, believe that they will be blessed if they support Israel.
7. USA/NATO started to pour money into Israeli military and make sure the balance is achieved in Middle East and they have someone (Israel) to perform all dirty work for them when needed.

I don't support helping Israel militarily. It is just bloody insane to send American troops to defend other nations, period. HOWEVER, YOU CANNOT ABANDON ISRAEL.

Honestly...this is part of what's wrong in US politics today. We are a democracy. Not every vote is going to go your way but instead of accepting a court's ruling or accepting a vote or better yet, gaining support for your viewpoint, we have parties attempt to do an end run around it. Don't like Roe V Wade? defund planned parenthood and implement nonsensical abortion clinic restrictions. Don't like gay marriage? vote on stupid religious freedom discrimination bills. don't like a UN vote? defund the UN. Don't like obamacare and can't accept that you don't have votes to overturn it and lost a supreme court battle about it? try and defund it and shut down the government in protest. it's all stupid. our representatives should have better things to do with their time in Congress
Israel isnt building settlements because Gaza is shooting rockets at them.
This is incorrect. Israel has a history of stopping, and even permanently removing settlements through peace negotiations. Look at the Sinai Penninsula and Gaza. As long as the Palestinians choose rockets instead of peace, the settlements will continue. The settlements would have stopped a long time ago if the Palestinians chose peace. They were offered Gaza, The West Bank, and even East Jerusalem, and they turned it down because they wanted ALL of Israel.
So, yes, Israel is still building settlements because the Palestinians are firing rockets at them.

I thought up some more....don't like the way the Presidential and COngressional votes are going? implement voter ID laws and redraw district lines.
