Actually, Khruschev never said that. It was a translation error (yes, they do happen, even at the UN). He said "we shall overtake you", meaning in steel production, and general quality of life, haha. Funny man.
Actually Americans are funny. They impose sanctions or trade embargoes on a country, try to undermine its economy in every way they can think of. And then they wonder why the quality of life in that country sinks.
* because the Russians have not legislated gay marriage and are not going to if they can help it;
* because the average Russian speaks his mind, without fear to offend every minority and "special rights" group around;
* because those who do get offended, grin and bear it, without clamoring for safe spaces;
* because the average Russian does not care much for multiculturalism, in spite of the government's token gestures to the opposite;
* because in a country where life can be hard, people are tough - and it is hard to sell the liberal whiny worldview to tough people.
That's all the reasons I can think about for now.
Interesting. They forget.
The USA did not legislate Gay Marriage either. It was ordered by the courts. Remember, both Obama & Hillary were against Gay marriage.
Most Americans don't care about multiculturalism. The prefer to be American first.
That was actually The Soviet Union. And Reagan destroyed them. They dissolved in 1991.
The population of The Soviet Union was about 300 million people. Russia is at 148 million and shrinking.
Doubling down and using a Beatles song as historical reference when you have made a mistake... Priceless.
Now that you are informed you have declared the USSR to be "alive". It's about as "alive" as Democratic ideology.
You do know Putin is ex-KGB? And that there is a lot of nostalgia right now in Russia for the Communists? Putin is basically a rehash of the Communist regime, but substituting oligarchs and Russian Mafia bosses for party chiefs.
I might not call Russia our enemy, but definitely not our friend. I would not trust Putin for a second.

I addressed the OP in that first post you responded to, But as usual, you pretend you didnt read it.The argument you used last time was that you did not read past the first line because if you dont agree on the first line, there was no need to read the rest.
At least in that instance, you admitted you did not want to read my response, this time you are flat out pretending it doesnt exist.

Incorrect. I said nothing about the President of the Ukraine.
Second he wasn't appointed until after the coup. Third, he wasn't appointed by the President of the country.
Why do hard core leftists, those left who still think Hillary won election and believe Obama is best president ever, think Russia is the United States enemy?
American Business has billions invested in Russia. This despite Obama's silly sanctions.
Russians have billions invested in the USA. This despite Obama's silly sanctions.
United States Astronauts need to ride on Putin's Spaceships to go to space station after Obama gutted NASA.
ISIS, which rose to power under Obama, is a common enemy of the United States and Russian Federation. Trump promises to work with Russia, instead of against them, to defeat this common foe.
Seems to me this doesn't describe an enemy country.
Their masters, the mainstream news organizations and handful of crappy Senate and Congress people-----like Goofy McCain and Graham who desperately want restart the cold war------told them they need to be mad at Putin and the Russians - so naturally like the whiney dogs they are, they did what they we're told.
Go back and look at the posts pre-Trump from about twenty months ago, look at all the regular " Russia hacked and stole the election " crybabies posts/posters- I guarantee you most of them never even had the words Putin and Russia in their posting vocabulary. The mainstream media whipped them up and they just haven't let go.
The aspect of this that ought to anger you or anyone else the most - is the fact not a single one of these crybabies has the ability or could ever do anything about Putin and Russians from their couch or easychair, with their remote in their hands.

You are way over your head and out of your depth on this one.
Careful trying to play cheerleader for Trump. You may look silly later
They are bad actor. Some on the left actually like Russia because they feel it has stood up to the U.S. lots of fringe leftists and rightists admire Putin. He is scum and so is his country.
