Unless I'm on this forum, a lot of people I know in real life really don't give a flying duck about what goes on in the political world. Of course politics isn't everything in life, but how much of our time should we spend "engaged" in political issues?

I care a lot, too much. I am a political junky.

Me and my friends regularly discuss politics. I'm more and more interested in reading political theory and philosophy. I find most of the 'debate' here to be inherently apolitical, and instead being more meaningless distractions. So indeed, I care about politics quite a lot.

A good question and one I have to answer. Few of my friends are political at ALL.

Either I'm going to spend time with them when I have free time OR I'm going to spend time volunteering for political candidates/issues/etc.

I don't know.

I more interested in discussing the issues, which doesn't have too often in this forum. There's just too much liberal and right wing bashing here. Some people here start threads just to insult others on the opposite end of the political spectrum. That's not politics (or shouldn't be).

Politics is the greatest show around.

The human animal is laid bare. If you're a people watcher or an anthropologist from Mars, you're going to be fascinated with politics.

You're right about this. Problems won't get solved this way. But I do like me a good old fashioned slug-fest now and then. Maybe there should be a sub forum for civil political discussion... or for fights.

P&OC is the forum for (refereed) fights.

I understand that Current Events is the forum for civil discussion.

We're all posting here, aren't we?

I am more of a spectator. I am amused by party hardliners who actually believe that their party actually cares for we the people. It's all about power and how they can increase their own personal wealth. Hardliners are great entertainment.

I'm apolitical but I LOVE bashing the SJWs. It's so damn fun.
