I've always wanted to visit the land of my ancestors, Sweden. But the rise of Islamic migrants there is a concern for me. Most of the country is still safe but theres areas I'll stay away from. Same with Germany.
I have no interest in visiting Mexico either, I've heard too many horror stories from people I know.
Overall, I'm content with keeping the vast majority of my money in the US. Theres so many beautiful areas to visit in our own country. Next year I'm taking a cheap backpacking trip in central PA and very thrilled about it, more than I would be if I took an expensive trip to Paris.
This year alone I was in Germany (Berlin, Munich, Obersalzburg, Berchesgaden, Nuremberg) Amsterdam, Austria, and Lithuania(Vilnus, Palanga, Kaunas) , Finland (Helsinki)
I would not go back to Berlin (probably ever again). Southern Germany is still safe and great for hiking (we went water rafting and hiking)
Finland is good. All of Eastern Europe is safe and Great.
I wouldn't go to the Middle East, Africa or Greece . I do know someone who just vacationed in turkey and had a good time ( couple months ago) but I wouldn't go there
if you want to give me your unused tickets Ill go anywhere - except a war zone- that be dumb- but I can die in my own house- some airplane can fall out of the sky or a part of it on way to Orlando airport- things just happen - good and bad alike
I no longer fly but if I did I would avoid almost all of western Europe, Africa, Greece, Mexico, Venezuela, Chicago and Baltimore. The Middle East goes without saying.
I wonder if countries who are dependent on tourism considered a possible impact on tourism dollars when they let in all of the migrants from the Muslim countries?
"As record numbers of migrants and refugee reach the shores of southern and eastern Europe, there are concerns that the refugee crisis is hitting Greece's lucrative tourism sector."
"As the number of migrants requesting asylum in Germany rises on last year’s figure, the country’s tourism industry is suffering. Following mass sex attacks in Cologne on New Year’s Eve, in which migrants sexually assaulted over 1,000 women, the city saw a significant slump in visitor numbers despite February being carnival month. Heidelberg’s marketing director Steffen Schmid reported that significantly fewer tourists are visiting the popular getaway city than traveled last year.
