We've been heading following their path for years now and now one seems to care or understand how dangerous it is and has been. The majority seems to think that what happened to Rome could never happen to us. Which goes to show just how ignorant we have become as a people. Some tend to think that their God will intervene & they will be carried off to heaven so why should they care?

The rest are just naïve & think we're too smart to let that happen. Sadly our government & most Americans are not.

I may be wrong, but I'm thinking your point above went over the heads of both Natalie and Seasoned Newbie. They are each focusing on the recent past. When I read your point above, my first thought was of Obama ridiculing Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner in, IIRC, 2011. I've heard some say that that was the first thing that significantly stoked Trump's desire to eventually run. He certainly worked harder towards the end of the campaign than Hillary did.

Frankly speaking .... this is a very negative, and perhaps slightly dumb OP.

First, from our experiences, observation and scientific patterns, WE KNOW that everything in the universe has a start AND an end.

Every nation and every empire in the human history had an end - so the choices "Never", is a dumb one to be included in the poll.

Which brings us to my second point -
Once we know, understand and accept that there is going to be an end then we need to come up with some positively and focus our time and energies on how can we make things better and do things that will BENEFIT our country till the inevitable happens.

What about doing something that will DELAY the inevitable? You know, like the recent election!

America has the lowest social mobility of all OECD nations. The class structure is extremely rigid.

Empires collapse when they expand beyond their means.

Either far off I to the future, or at he hands of Trump. I know it won't be because of Obama. Trump may be the most destructive president we will ever have.

By the way how can Obama be decided acting our military in 2040, which will be 23 years after he has left office? Would it not happen sooner, like now?

Death of the West by Pat Buchanan is a must-read, as is Jean Raspails prophetic Camp of the Saints.
