I would gladly not eat there. If that don't want those of us that want Trump, then I won't go. I hope they go out of business.
Just like some businesses can refuse service to certain people, they can do this if they want. The sad thing is some businesses that refused service (florist) to gay marriage are possibly being sued....
Political identification is only known if disclosed, whether by saying so or by displaying a symbol of that belief (wearing a T-shirt). In other words, being identified as a Trump supporter is a choice of the individual in question. Race identification, on the other hand, requires no declaration, it is known or assumed by looking at physical attributes that for the most part are unalterable. This is generally true of ethnicity and age range also. I used to add sex/gender but that changed at some point in the last eight years. In other words, being identified as black is not a choice - other than that one whack-a-doodle transracial chick, that is.
They are not comparable. If you are a Trump voter and want to eat there just don't tell anyone that's what you are.
However..... what a dumb business decision.
Sure they are comparable. As identical symptoms, after the fact. it's about the owner having a bias.
Being banned from a restaurant because of race is no different than being banned from a restaurant because of political identity. Neither of those have to do with the owners prejudice/bias. THAT is the cause of the problem. In order to address a problem, you have to identify the cause.
That said the owner should LAWFULLY be able to ban ANYONE for ANY reason. Government doesn't own that business. Not saying you are suggesting any of this.
And yes it is a dumb business decision, another reason to love the free market.
This is a really dumb move for the restaurant owner. It could be considered discriminatory since the narrative out there is in the MSM is only white people voted for Trump.
Perhaps someone should file a discrimination lawsuit against the restaurant. Keep the owner busy in court the next few years.
Regarding the bakery and the gay wedding cake. A Halal bakery would not be expected to make a specialty cake that had animal products in it or a Jewish bakery a cake with a swastika on it. All very different than banning someone from eating at your establishment because of their perceived beliefs, race or voting record.
I can't believe that people would ruin their livelihood over something as stupid as who someone voted for - that's more idiotic than banning someone for race or religion.

How about a sign that says "No gays will be served" or "no christians, muslims etc"?
Don't agree with the owner's decision on this one.
However, Trump snowflakes should focus more of their efforts on job hunting rather than wasting time writing negative reviews on a restaurant they've never even been to.
I didn't vote for Trump but I probably wouldn't eat at this restaurant. I go to restaurants for food, not politics.
And that's the wonderful thing about freedom. You can go for the food, others can go for their politics.
