I have no problem with transgender folks. If they were born male, but feel they are female, and transition to female, then cool. They are female to me. No problems.

But WTH is "fluid"? Do they go back and forth? Dude, it doesn't work that way. The gender you identify with reflects how your brain is wired. It's not a choice that you flip flop on from day to day.

Gah. People.

Like someone's gender identity and how they are referred to in public?

Gender identity is NOT sexual preference.

That someone calls you Steven or him (assuming you identify as male) has zilch to do with who you sleep with.

Again, assuming you identify as a man, how would you feel if people referred to you consistently as "her"?

It is absolutely astounding to me that some people dig their heels in over this issue- like the basic human respect of referring to someone as they wish to be referred to has been completely lost.

There's an element of our society who feel the need for constant change. It doesn't matter if the change is good or sensible; they just want change. What would once be considered crazy five years ago is now pushed as the new normal. Just think of something that you consider socially unacceptable now. In a few years time, you will be called a hateful bigot for opposing it.

If it turns out that we just HAVE to interact in some way, and I make a mistake in use of a stupid pronoun, don't go all daffy in deriding me about it.
What's the "accommodation" with using a particular pronoun when dealing with someone?

How in God's name are you offended if someone requests that you use a different pronoun that the one that you assumed to be correct?
