No Lithuania doesn't need to allocate it's entire GDP, just enough to deter an invasion. It currently spends 1.1% of it's GDP less than Portugal and with a higher risk.

Sucks to be stupid.

Oh, that's easy, then. "Just enough" to hold off a country with a GDP 20 times its own.

Dear Lord, Trump negotiating with Russia. He'd sell out every alliance ever forged and every principle the US claims to hold for a hotel concession on the Red Square, and walk out thinking he'd won.

Isn't this what macho pick up truck Republicans are into?
Since the last three wars that we've been in were started by Republicans perhaps you would consent to a Republican only draft?

I guess the problem is that Lithuania has the nerve to be so provocatively placed - imagine, bordering Russia, yet acting all independent and deciding for themselves who they wish to ally with.

If they'd just show some proper deference and gratitude for all the money Moscow sank into keeping them safe from themselves, for decades.

Well the question you should be asking is, are you prepared to become a carbon shadow in a millisecond in the defense of Lithuania? If your answer is "no" then you might like to stop flapping your gums about it.

About time we called Russias' bluff. They have been bullying the world long enough.
What with invading Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and bombing places like Pakistan, who could blame us for wondering about their motives, right?

Yes but they dont spend anything on defense. They are 100% dependent on NATO (US) for security. They dont even pay enough of their GDP on defense to legally be part of NATO.

But hey free health care, 20 hr work weeks..6 weeks paid vacation, gotta pay for all the goodies somehow.
