Craftsman never made tools, they were contracted through existing manufacturers. In the last few years they started switching from US to china and took a beating for it.
I'm not political but for the people who cry where is trump choke on this this...
Stanley/Black and Decker plans on building a $35 million plant in the US as part of this. For the first time ever Craftsman will actually make tools.
Sears deserves to lose Craftsman. They farmed all the tools out to China, and they went to crap. Sure their wrench sets are $20. Exactly 4 times what they're worth. That's why I chase down the Snap-On truck if I need anything these days.
You can only sell so much garbage before people learn and stop buying it.

Well let's see what they turn out. Let's hope they didn't "learn" any manufacturing techniques from China. If the product is good, I'll certainly buy it. Because right now most of the stores seem to be selling Harbor Freight quality tools at ridiculous prices.
No one knows where they will position the brand, but to even suggest that they learn manufacturing techniques from china is absurd. They certainly make stuff they but the learning goes the other way around.
Sears mishandled the brand so bad a lot of tool guys consider the better harbor freight stuff over craftsman Chinese
Whenever I go into Sears in the "busy" mall, it's always a ghost town with no customers and few employees. I went into the lawn and garden center and this one employee was covering 3 departments. I could not get proper help... I left.
Don't blame Trump for a dying breed... that has been laying dinosaur eggs for 20 years.
Sears tried to compete by going cheap like everyone else, sad.I bought the last of the Kenmore basic washer& dryer back in 95 the things are bullet proof and seem to last forever .Probably last me the rest of my life. Those days are over people demand junk.
