Sears has been in trouble for a long, long time. This is no surprise. It's a shame, but they can't seem to adjust & change to the times. Happens to a lot of stores.
Sears and Kmart (and RadioShack) have been dying a slow death since the early 2000s. The closest thing we have today to time travel back to the 1980s is walking into a Sears store.
One thing is that Sears owns most of its real estate, so they have more capital than it might seem. In my opinion, that's likely the only reason they have been able to hang on this long.
