If we evened out the trade deficit with Mexico they could build a wall to Bolivia and it wouldn't cost the US taxpayers a nickel. THAT is how you get Mexico to pay for the wall.
Not really a shock to people with common sense, but this is a humiliating defeat after months of chest pounding and heated rhetoric for extremists who worship Trump.
For future reference, we dont have the authority to force a sovereign country to pay for anything. Welcome to the world.
This is fair, this is correct, I wouldn't disagree with this, most mexicans don't care about the Wall as long as US pays it. We are not building a Wall in our side to stop you, If we were we would have to pay it.

That just seems so rational doesn't it? If we want a wall, we build it, we pay for it. So how in the world did so many Americans fall for Trump's ridiculous position that Mexico would pay?
"Because the 2006 law included a floor on fencing miles, not a ceiling, and since it also allows the Department of Homeland Security to determine what kinds of structures to build, Capitol Hill Republicans believe Trump already has all the authority he needs to start construction of a wall. All they have to do is fund it."

Because a dollar saved is a dollar earned... foreign concept for liberals...
All I hear from the right is how bad the problem of illegal immigration is. It is impossible to build a wall in large areas of the border because land is privately owned. And a large percentage of people are here illegally because of overstaying visas, not because of crossing the US/Mexico border on foot.
Being in Long Island you may not see the affects of 30-60,000 Illegals crossing the border every month like we do along the border. The costs to our schools, hospitals, public services. It's a huge factor here in TX especially the crime committed by Illegals.
We've got to stop the flow first then we can decide on who stays.
It speculates various reasons for the decrease in apprehensions, the wall potentially being one of them.

You post a link to back up your claims and then you shoot it down because it doesn't fit your agenda? All we need are the 700 miles built on the most porous areas of our border already approved by congress. Only 40% of illegals are visa over stayers and we can implement a better system of tracking them. 60% of illegals are illegal border crossers.
The 2006 bill authorized 600 miles, which was built. Obviously it is not working, or we would not be having this discussion.
Fake news again? 36 miles was built, not 600. You can't get away with lies here.
"Ultimately, only 36 miles of double-layer fencing was erected. U.S. Customs and Border Protection built roughly 350 miles of single-layer pedestrian fences, most which stand about 18 feet, and 300 miles of low-level vehicle barriers that any person could easily walk through, according to sources following the matter."
