Steve Jobs is an excellent example. My understanding is his cancer was actually curable at the beginning but he chose alternative medicines which didn't work. By the time he went to conventional methods, it was too late. Sometimes money really can't buy everything.
human bodies are frail things and colds, infections, stomach problems, and all the other things that go on are just more of a pain than having to work is.
Still waiting on the inject-able gene re-sequencer that will completely cure high cholesterol, diabetes, and boost one's immune system to make a person immune from any foreign body... along with curing any congenital defects in offspring while they are still a fertilized egg. I fully embrace this technology and hope they continue to research on this front.
