You can't just not show up for work for 2 days without even telling the employer. Having a baby is not an excuse.
Yeah...after all, he can attend the birth of his next baby.

Yeah. No controversy. That's why this made news.

Most companies would have accommodated him. Unless there are other issues that happened before the event.
Poor job performance, reliability issues, etc. Without hearing both sides I can't say who is wrong in this.
The guy is a bum. This is proof.

After he met Lindsay, 26, on an online dating site and the couple married and moved to New Hampshire, Lamar spent several years shuttling back and forth to New Jersey to work until he took an assembly line job in New Hampshire.

That went right over people's heads. You know...the usual suspects.

Between his multiple job offers and nearly $10k (so far) gofundme account, the family's luck appears to be on the upswing.

Okay thanks for pointing that out. Not like a ton of people think the same thing.

Just because a company with fewer than 50 FTE's aren't subject to the same laws larger companies are, doesn't mean they're doing right by their employees.

It doesn't appear this was a case where he didn't call in, but if he didn't call in, I understand why he was canned, and can't excuse that.

If he called in and chose to remain with his family, he did so probably knowing he was putting his job at risk. I think he made the right choice, and with the three job opportunities, one in a field he'd like to learn, it seems like this will end up being a happy ending for him and his family.

What would they have done if he had gotten very sick and couldn't make it in? Fire him? Or do they have a back up plan for such times? They should have asked him to let them know as soon as he was sure she was going into labor and then gone to their back up plan. But better for him, hopefully, that they didn't.
