The same old argument about "we do it to others so its fine if others do it to us"
Yes we have done it. And countries that we affected by doing so-well many of them hate us to this day, and if they could hit back, they would. They have a right to be upset. And so do we. And we CAN do something about it if we show the political spine. And we should.
It should also be a reminder to our intelligence services. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Think long term. Interfering with elections and failing is rarely wise. By definition, being caught at it is failing.
Since at least the Kennedy vs Nixon election back in 1960 and probably even before then, Russia has pushed propaganda that would help their preferred candidate and hurt the other. Not only interfering in elections but a general sowing seeds of mistrust and division as in the late 60s and 70's with the whole MLK assassination, the Jewish Defense League and well into the 80's with them pushing the slogan "Reagan means war". There is even evidence that Ted Kennedy was working with and aiding them in pushing their propaganda.
All of this is well known and well documented, but somehow for THIS election, after over 50 years all of a sudden it is the most serious threat to democracy as we know it.
How is that exactly??
Putin himself publicly stated on TV who he would prefer to deal with in an American president. Putin is a widely respected individual in the political world regardless of what his detractors say about him, his word carries weight.
Hell, look at what US government and NGOs did in Russia in the 1990s, look into Obamas speech in Britain when they had their Brexit vote last year. There was tampering by the Obama admin in Israel politics recently also.
Should we go into all of the FOREIGN POWERS that contribute money to campaigns? What was it that Hildebeast got from Saudi Arabia? 15? 25 MILLION?
Americans have got to be the stupidest lot on earth.
Why are we so concerned about Putin and Russia? They could NOT defeat us in battle but all the MONEY in our corrupt politics could bring our country to its knees.
Wake up people, you're being led by the nose but most are too stupid to know it.

Look at the Ukraine, they're still fighting there going on 3 years. It was a western sponsored over throw of a legitimately elected president.

The new phenomenon is the scale of the reaction. i also cannot think of a single country that does not influence us. Should we be watching the BBC? Foreign influence ya know. Strange to see the left become the right wing. Russophobia, war mongering, attack on the first amendment, authoritarianism, cozying up to Wall Street. wtahca doing hanging out with these people? Dontcha remember me from the occupy days ? Where did ya go? Ya didn't start stumping for the Nazis did ya?
That's what I'd say.
And even more so - left pushing the ultra-right agenda on the Russians - the laissez-faire economy out of all things)))) ( I am talking Clintons of course.)

As you know, I am one of those "detractors."
I would never want to live in Putin's Russia, ( utterly corrupt country, where money is above all) but with that being said, I perfectly understand why Russians overwhelmingly vote for him.
As greywar said here - "Yes we have done it. And countries that we affected by doing so-well many of them hate us to this day, and if they could hit back, they would. They have a right to be upset."
So Russians are upset. And having Putin for president is their way to "hit back" on international scene.
Earlier today I read an article on Politico(which is left wing obviously) and it just reconfirmed to me that Trump and the US should indeed become friends with nationalistic Russia. The writers had the opposite effect on me that they were aiming for. It flat out spoke of globalism as the goal of the elitists of the west, and of nationalism being a destructive thing. Unfortunate for the liberal world order that many in the US as well as a lot of countries in the EU are waking up and realizing that they've been going down the wrong road.
