Freedom of speech stops at a call of action or "imminent lawless action."
Quote:
Under the imminent lawless action test, speech is not protected by the First Amendment if the speaker intends to incite a violation of the law that is both imminent and likely. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imminent_lawless_action
This is why we can't yell "fire" in a theater.
However, hate speech, aka any speech liberals don't agree with, is protected under the Freedom of Speech.
This also highlights an important difference between US and Canada. In Canada, hate speech is prohibited but in US is protected. In essence, Canadians don't have the freedom of speech but we do.
The perp was charged with a juvenile citation for disrupting school activities. No mention of expulsion from the school.
Now honestly, if the perp were white (which would have caused as much of an initial disruption at the school as the AA perpetrated hoax), what do you think would have happened RE: media coverage and punishment?

There would been outrage and coverage non-stop about how this country is still racist and that everything must be done to stop racism. Al Sharpton / Jesse Jackson would organize protests and demonstrations demanding prosecution.
It is truly bizarre that in today's world the biggest pushers of KKK hatred are... black people.
There is nothing bizarre about it.
We miss Nazis so much we have to keep portraying them in the movies in one way or another from the ole WWII nostalgia to Star Wars. Its like getting to stay home from school from being sick or getting a cough drop for a cough. Being a victim without actually being victimized turns compensation into an easy reward. Its not unexpected. Its anticipated for anyone who knows a thing about human psychology.
Another poster here (forget who?) posted a while back that the victim mentality being taught to the kids these days is the issue. In today's culture victim's are esteemed. They're seen as strong, noble and virtuous. It's not hard to understand why young people (because it is primarily the under 25 crowd) want to feel like that. Factor in today's reality-star culture where non talented people can become rich & famous without having to invest any effort or produce anything of value and now you have an extremely tempting combination. You have people doing these things, where no one cares what they have to say because they haven't done anything to earn esteem. Instead they become famous, as well as strong, noble & virtuous all by faking a racial hoax. Until these racial hoaxes are subject to the same laws as hate crimes (which is what they are), there's no motivation to stop doing them.
