Presidential Approval Ratings | Gallup Historical Statistics and Trends

Presidential Approval Ratings -- Barack Obama | Gallup Historical Data & Trends

Obama: 48.0
Bush (G.W.): 49.4
Clinton: 55.1
Bush (G.H.W.): 60.9
Reagan: 52.8
Carter: 45.5
Ford: 47.2
Nixon: 49.1
Johnson: 55.1
Kennedy: 70.1
Eisenhower: 65.0
Truman: 45.4
F. Roosevelt: 63

So for all those who think Obama will be remembered in history as "one of the greatest presidents" the approval rating average says otherwise. Its even lower than the "unpopular" George W. Bush!

It looks to me like the poll shows Obama with a higher average at this same point in his presidency than GWB and LBJ, and on par with GW 41. Way above GWB at 34%.

What really matters is how they are viewed as they leave office. GW 41 had something like a 90% approval rating at one point after the Gulf War, but lost reelection to an unknown Bill Clinton. So much for the average mattering.

Just wait until Obama's legacy is wiped away in the coming weeks, and there is literally nothing left but the memories of his horrific regressive left domestic policy, and his disastrous neocon warmongering foreign policy.

His presidency is basically over, these are all overall averages, so 48.0% will be his average. Lowest since Carter.

Click on the link on the top of the page that you linked to.

His exit ratings appear to be beating historical norms.

Like I said, if averages matter, GW 41 would have won relection. He didnt, because what matters is the approval rating at the end of your term. GWB left office with 34% approval rating, Obama leaves with a 55% approval rating.

Yep yep.

And Trump is the most unpopular incoming President in U.S. history.

But his overall averages are among the bottom tier. Keep trying to spin it though!

Who cares about popularity polls? What matters is how history views his presidency. We won't know that for 30,40 years.
