It certainly creates a dilemma to those who are willing to obey the laws of the nation and commands of God. When they contradict, difficult choices need to be made.
"Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters."
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.
A great example of the church-govt. issue. One which will only be answered by each person and their beliefs.
It's fun to watch the right wing beat around the bush every time I bring this up. Their idea is to persecute anybody that helps illegal immigrants stay in this country, except their employers. The employers of illegals receive a safe zone.
I have never seen a post by anyone who is anti-illegal that thought employers should not be punished. Quite the opposite is true. We want laws with teeth that hammer all employers caught hiring illegals. It is the left that would prefer not to make E-verify the law of land. As it stands it's difficult to prosecute employers. They need only say that they didn't know and they get away with it. No law requires an employer to verify legal status.
Pretty funny. The Christian thing to do is to protect each other.
The Right has a problem.
Many rural churches have large immigrant populations. How does that work when you are fighting your minister or priest over protecting the members or parishioners.
Maybe you will want to see Churches be forced to mark its members in some way so THEY can be found.
The Christian thing is to protect law breakers? Where are you getting that from? "Immigrant" populations? We aren't talking about immigrants but illegal alien law breakers.
No, when a church declares itself as a sanctuary for illegal aliens there is no need to mark them. It then gives LE the right to question every parishioner as they exit the church.
OP...they are not immigrants they are criminals here illegally.
Liberals stop calling them immigrants...it is a LIE!
I actually prefer the term illegal immigrants because it perfectly describes these people. They are immigrants who are here illegally. I don't know why that phrase should upset anyone.

Do you think these employers are going to magically pay wages that Americans are used to if and when they are snagged?
What does Jesus say we should do, as compared to your claim of criminals.
Jesus said to give to Ceasar, what is Ceasar's and give God what is God's.
Jesus said to love God and your neighbor as yourself.
This does not mean we should protect criminals. For example, if my sweet son killed someone, I would not harbor him. I would cooperate with local authorities. I would feel sad that he did not obey man's laws or God's laws and I would provide emotional support.
Listen, there are many, many legal ways for Christians to support the poor and disadvantaged of the wold without breaking any US laws. There is absolutely nothing prohibiting the church or its members from sending money and supporting illegals who are returned to their home lands.
Sending an illegal home is not dehumanizing. Every person regardless of where they are born deserve respect, but every person also needs to be responsible for their actions.
