Trump knows NOTHING about Lewis's district. There are many affluent areas in Lewis's district. I doubt if Trump knows Harlem is located in Manhattan.

Why is calling out John Lewis on the whole debacle of civil rights movement/great society/war on poverty and welfare programs a bad thing
To compare Michael Brown to Emmett Till---simply unbelievable. SMH. Lewis should know better than that!

It was democrats who started the so-called "War on Poverty", which played a huge part in the increase of out of wedlock births. One provision, that came from the War on Poverty was this --- A family couldn't get welfare if the father was in the home. The assumption back then was that if the father was in the home and not working, it meant that he was lazy. Never mind, he may have had trouble finding work, and back then, no one thought to say something like "the mother could find a job". So, the consequences to that rule caused fathers to leave the family so that they could get welfare.

A few years later, the democrats having realized what they had done, changed the welfare rules to say it was okay if the father was in the home. It was too little, too late.

BTW, if anyone is going to pull the race card due to the above^^^^then stuff it. These rules also affected poor white families, too.

Republicans are having a major meltdown over this and Rince Priebus is now saying that President Obama should “step up” and do something about it.

He went on NBC's Meet the Press and said Obama should "step up" and "call it what it is - it's wrong what is happening, it's wrong how some of these Democrats are treating President-elect Trump."

After years of questioning Obama's legitimacy, carrying on about that birth certificate, calling him a Muslim, undermining his presidency by contacting Iran and warning them not to trust the nuclear deal... now they expect President Obama to "step up" and protect Trump.

Mind boggling.

This level, if it can be called a level, is ridiculous. Your insult shows that you believe insults are the way to run the country.

Democrats forgot how warm Obama was ushered in that it was 2 months after the inauguration before Rush said he wished Obama's policies fail. Not BEFORE he even got in office.

Democrats = insulting is normal

Theres lots more like that....in your link
Actually - I laugh more at you for pulling 1 item from an article instead of commenting on the whole thing - but then - that's the way you liberals work - pick one thing that may support your position and deny all the rest.

Let's see what else the article says - and remember Trump didn't say it was the worst of the worst - only that Lewis' time would be better spent paying attention to his district.

1. Atlanta's crime problems, pegging the Fifth District as "crime-infested." Atlanta landed at No. 14 in the nation for its rate of violent crime when the Federal Bureau of Investigation released statistics last year that applied to 2015.*

2. The median household income is about $48,000 -- slightly higher than Georgia's median, but below the national median of $56,000

3. The unemployment rate in the district was about 8.2 percent when the Census Bureau released its estimates last year for the American Community Survey’s 2015 one-year measurement.

So laugh all you want grey but Lewis' could be doing a better job for his constituents rather than commenting on the President elect. He can't change the fact Trump will be President in another week - he can work to change his district for the better.

John Lewis should do whatever the hell he feels like doing. I don't agree with him, but he's earned his right to do and say whatever the hell he feels like doing and saying as long as it's legal.

After all, he's an American. Most of you don't have it all together either, but you heap criticism on this or that person. So if you can, John Lewis DEFINITELY can.

Priebus is really a piece of work. Trump is surrounding himself with them.
