Folks are looking at pre-existing conditions but there are quite a few other, maybe lesser but important, elements to Obamacare that will be gone in a couple weeks:

Women can go to gynecologist without a referral - GONE!
Included birth control -GONE!
Employers can't impose waiting periods to be eligible for coverage - GONE!
Insurers can't put lifetime limits on coverage - GONE!
Reduction and closing of the donut hole in Medicare prescriptions - GONE!
Insurers can't terminate coverage for claims - GONE!
Insurers can't raise premiums on an individual basis - GONE!
Rights to appeal denial of coverage - GONE!

There are many more "abuses" like this that were outlawed by the ACA that will all become legal again upon repeal.

Pretty much. But more interestingly is that the stock market is saying...they dont expect any actual change to their bottom line.

Watch for some serious lobbying money to be spent. I think that may be part of the reason Trump is pushing for it to resolve quickly.

Pre-existing conditions are expensive because medications and medical procedures are way too expensive. There are many ways to reduce these costs. Do that and the cost of pre-existing conditions will come down significantly and it won't be such a big deal to get coverage.

They will take you, but you will have to pay a fortune. There are only a couple ways this can work due to the insurance industry. Either there is a mandate for everyone to buy insurance in order to expand the pool, or the high-risk insured and the older (but not old enough for Medicare) will pay a huge amount for insurance.

Prior to the ACA, if you had pre-existing or high-risk conditions, they simply rejected you. If they cannot reject you, they'll sell you insurance alright, but it will cost as much as it would to treat your own condition and pay cash. Sort of like paying for your own car accidents rather than putting in a claim.

Until we have a single payer system, this is how it will go. And, btw, Obama wanted a single payer system (like every other industrialized country has), but he couldn't get the GOP to go along with it, so they compromised. Socialism and all that.

The insurance industry is a for-profit industry with avaricious shareholders (why don't people get this?). It is a no win for people who need insurance. And with no mandate we will go back to sick people using the emergency room for care and everyone else paying for it.

But by all means, repeal the ACA because we hate Obamacare (for people who understand it is one in the same).

None of which has happened yet, and many of which the GOP's base also likes. Currently as of 1:30 am today....Congress has pulled the pin, and is now trying to figure out what the next step is.

All of these things cost something and we were NOT paying for them. I support UHC BUT as importantly I support paying for it and in part, paying for it by ending the middle man.

^^^^This. But it will not happen. The insurance and pharmaceutical industries have their claws sunk in to the system.
