I would retain it only because abolishing it would decimate the UK economy. Also the countries of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales are part of the UK, just a little geography lesson for those of you who didn't finish grade school.
To all those posting above who complain of the cost of supporting the monarchy as the UK's form of government, you should look into the cost of the American presidency to the US taxpayers. The American presidency operates on a much more "imperial" level than the British monarchy does, and at a much greater cost. If you think just abolishing a monarchy and replacing it with a republic somehow automatically saves money, think again. One more thing: our recent presidential election is evidence that our system is not necessarily the best in the world. The British monarchy has worked well for over 1,000 years. There are few valid reasons to replace it with anything else.
Abolish. Though of course, were I raised in England, it's hard to say how I'd feel, if I as a person today became an Englishman, I'd see the monarchy disbanded. Nothing against them; the Royal Family seems made up of genuinely good people, but, unelected people should not have any political power, and while the current monarch doesn't really use said power, the fact that it exists at all, I find troubling.
If I was English then yes I would want to keep it. But that doesn't mean I want to emulate it here in the US. It's a great part of English culture and tradition.
