Colorado has conducted one of the largest experiments with long-acting birth control.
2009 to 2013, the birth rate among teenagers fell 40% and abortions dropped 42%
"For every dollar invested in the LARC program, an estimated average of $5.85 was avoided within a three-year period by the Colorado Medicaid program—a good return on investment. ...
CDPHE estimates that Colorado saved between $49 million and $111 million in birth-related Medicaid costs.
Exactly! The GOP is again saving a dollar to spend over $5 down the road.
The $5 saved was over just the three years.
It didn't include years of health coverage, Food Stamps, TANF, subsidized housing and all the other costs to women having children before they are in a position to support them.
Please explain to us what part of the Government Planned Parenthood belongs to.
Exactly which government bureaucracy is the parent organization?
If it is, in fact, a private organization, why does it rely so heavily on government funding?
Yes, I am against farm subsidies, AMTRAK subsidies, any other passenger rail subsidies, airline subsidies, etc. as well as any Planned Parenthood subsidies.
I simply do not believe it is in the Constitution that Government should prop up businesses that are not economically viable. The bottom line is, make a profit or go out of business.
So, I say YES, defund PP. They will either survive on what they take in (plus donations), or they will go out of business.
Last I checked, PP did not provide free birth control, it accepts payment for its services on a sliding scale. Same with the abortions they claim are a vast minority of the services they provide to women.
The Federal govenment's responsibility will be to feed, provide health-care, housing, and education to those children of single mothers who cannot afford to provide for them.
once again NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS RESPONSIBILITY, that should the STATE governments responsibility.

there are these things called free clinics, they are virtually everywhere. and they have these things called doctors, and family nurse practitioners who can write prescriptions at little to no cost for their patients.
condoms, birth control pills, spermicides, and other birth control methods are about equally effective, about 99% or so, and they are ALL inexpensive, and widely available. this argument has been made MANY times in the past, so your fears are unfounded.
Yes there are free clinics that are funded by Title X going back to the Nixon Administration including Planned Parenthood, they provide birth control, education, counseling and free testing.
So why are they threatening to pull funding from just PP???
Planned Parenthood clinics are not free, they provide their services to women (including abortions) on a sliding scale payment depending on the woman's income.
Free women's services, including birth control, can be obtained at county or state public health departments. Some locations also have free community healthcare clinics, where people of low income and no health insurance may receive needed healthcare, including reproductive services. These clinics are generally funded by taxes, and also heavily subsidized by local hospitals and other healthcare facilities. These are often staffed by doctors and nurses who volunteer their time there.
Available facilities such as these can be found in specific areas using internet searches, or even a local phone book.

We have learned that repealing the ACA and defunding PPP will increase the rate of Medicaid births as well as increase the need for free clinics which are funded by tax payers.

The GOP is once again spending a dollar to save a dime.
I guess the GOP will just get the money to pay for this from SS and Medicare down the road.
