What the hell is wrong with these judges??? Between the judge letting those kids off for sexually assaulting the high schooler with a hanger and this, I think some of them must be nuts.
This woman had sex with her daughter's 13-year-old boyfriend and only got probation? Would a man only get probation if he had sex with his son's 13-year-old girlfriend?!
The reasons cited by the judge were that it was an aberration and that this woman appeared to be compassionate in caring for her elderly parents and others in the community.
So you can get away with it if it's just a one-off, and some good deeds will offset the crime??!!
A former friend, who was a teacher, was convicted of sex with a student. He got probation and will have his conviction disappear if he successfully completes probation. I so disagree with this verdict. I don't understand why any adult has sex with a minor. These adults are sick people.

Well if nothing else, she's not attractive, nor young. Usually the attractive girls get less severe penalties.
I guess the judge was trying to be compassionate, but seriously this is sick stuff.

Outrageous. How old was the girl? Maybe a girl of 17 would be viewed differently. To me, sex with a 13-year-old makes you a pedophile, though I agree, all of these people are sick.

If this were a man, he would be locked up.
I thought so, too, until I read texan2yankee's post, although I'm wondering if the girl was 17 versus this 13-year-old.
If you're having sex with a 13-year-old, you're a pedophile and should get more than probation.
It is just a road that really shouldn't be walked down in any way shape or form. We are well past the days of it being ok to screw little kids because the bible told you she got her first period. We should be past the days were a man generally gets a much more severe sentence because he diddles a girl as opposed to a woman diddling a boy of the same age.
Not sure why this is a problem. Don't have sex with kids. They lack the ability to understand consequences, understand the complicated emotions and certainly don't have the capacity to deal with the consequences. So keep your legs crossed, go rub one out or something but leave the kids out of your sex life.
I agree with not sending her to prison. That said, the sentence should not be probation. She should be under house arrest with many restrictions put on her. The judge does not know that this was an aberration.
At least she didn't avoid having to register as a sex offender.

It's a problem because these people are sick in the head otherwise they would derive no pleasure from this. They don't care what's right, they're acting on their sick urges.

I would have been okay with house arrest in some criminal cases, but that doesn't guarantee that her daughter's boyfriend or other children wouldn't visit and that she wouldn't do the same with them.
House arrest is not going to work if you're able to repeat the crime in your home.
