Thats mutually assured destruction without the use of a single land based missile, all of which are also hardened against nuclear attack and EMP.

Even the Russians arent that stupid.
Agreed.
It isn't Russia attacking us that we should be concerned with. It is a dirty bomb smuggled across the Mexican border that is a more realistic concern. Or a missile from North Korea. They have little to lose and they have a mad man in control.
Not even Iran would be foolish enough to attack us directly, but a radical group with a dirty bomb? That is a very realistic scenario.

We are discussing the "Russian hardliners wanting to take over Eastern Europe " which several on the left imagine as part of Putin's secret plan.

Not sure why you keep pretending it is only "several on the left" who are concerned about Russia, when practically everyone on the right is concerned about it. Only die-hard Trump loyalists keep saying Russia is our new best friend.

You basically started a thread with an absurd premise and waited until someone agreed with you. Now you're saying "all liberals" believe a "thermonuclear" war will happen.

Since you can't understand the difference between "several on the left" and "all liberals", of course this is going over your head.

Interesting. Today's left not only wants to escalate with Russia but also sees total thermonuclear war as an option.
Oh really. Because one poster played along, "today's left" now wants nuclear war?

This is some bizzare fantasy.

No one believes that Russia is our friend. Most of understand they are our rival. Which doesn't mean enemy, just not an ally.
Russia isn't going to nuke us and they don't have the means to attack our country and invade it. They will screw with our allies and our business and we have very little we can do about it.
The better path is forget personal and start looking for common ground. Both the USA and Russia have a common rival and that is China.

It certainly appears that most of those on the right posting about Russia are arguing against provocation and sending hardware to their border.

Fantasy?

I'm arguing against not being the defender of Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

The fantasy seems to be those on the left determined to reignite the Cold War.

Agreed.

This said, I don't even believe China is really interested in invading anybody.
