Five juveniles among injured as shooting erupts in park at MLK Day celebration
Police are questioning two people, say they have recovered the guns involved
(CNN)Participants at a Miami event celebrating MLK Day scrambled for safety Monday afternoon after gunfire erupted, leaving eight people, including five juveniles, injured, officials said.
Video from CNN affiliate WSVN captured the emotional scene at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. Law officers and paramedics treated the wounded and tried to calm friends and family.
A family festival was taking place in the park after the annual King parade in Liberty City. Shots were fired at about 3:40 p.m. ET.
Miami-Dade Police said one victim was in critical condition, while five were in stable condition and two were grazed, treated and released. The victims ranged from 13 to 30 years old. The patient in critical condition is a 20-year-old man.
"Investigators have detained two subjects for questioning to determine their involvement, if any," police said. "Two firearms were also recovered. It is unknown if additional subjects are at large as this investigation continues to be very active."
Witness Tammy Meeks told WSVN the incident came "too close to home."
"This should be one of the one days out of the year where whether you're white, black, Hispanic — no matter what you are, we come together and just have fun and care for one another," she said. "And it's senseless that we can't just do that on one day of the year."
Some are reporting that this is black on black violence. Almost certainly right because we all know that the faces of the perpetrators would be all over the place if they were white. I am just going to reprint a previous post and ask that it be considered by everyone, especially the BLM crowd and the black people who called the police when other black people shot at them:
I am going to be blunt here--Martin Luther King has jumped the shark...his people **** on his dream daily. They live in a world in which not only are they equal, but they have all kinds of special rights: affirmative action, handicaps on their SATs, the mantra of "diversity" rampant in the private sector, etc. And yet they are still in last place, behind even immigrant populations that come here not even knowing the language, sometimes not even having a legal status. We have been over the absolutely horrific statistics regarding African Americans and education, African Americans and incarceration, etc. There is no reason to go over them again. The fact is, King's dream is a failure...a complete bust.
My strong suggestion is that until black people decide that black lives matter, perhaps they should just put MLK on the back shelf and forget about him.

It's obvious that some did just this at that celebration in Miami.
Oh goody. A chance for our resident racists to pile on to ONE news story about ONE shooting in ONE city on a day where THOUSANDS of marches, parades, rallies, etc. were held.
