The private sector doesn't pay enough for those highly paid Federal employees. Don't forget many veterans are employed by the Federal Government.
I don't know where this highly paid stuff comes from, but the most Jim ever made was 62ish and that was at 33 years and working 6 days every other week.
Decent pay for a decent life---- but highly paid is a bit of a stretch.
Boom: Trump Eyes 10% Spending Cuts, 20% Slash Of Federal Workers
So Trump ran on the platform of Jobs, jobs, jobs. This is his way of fulfilling that promise. Cutting 550,000 jobs right out of the gate?
And you bohunks are rooting for that?
It's called DRAINING THE SWAMP... even us "bohunks" can see that, genius.
I think Trump should propose moving large swaths of Washington, DC based federal employees to offices located throughout the country, such as Dubuque, Iowa and Detroit, Michigan. Lower costs for taxpayers, lower cost of living for public servants, a boon for these cities economically. Win, win.
Transfer these 'public servants' out of Washington and see how many decide to stay in 'public service'. I bet these goals for a reduction in federal employees and reduction in costs would be met within a year.
I like that out of the box thinking. May save 10% budget in COLA alone. Maybe move the agencies to the border
Interesting. I just said almost this exact thing to my husband a couple of weeks ago - across the board 10% cut in all department budgets and staff reductions through attrition, retirements etc. It can be done. Easily. This from someone who has worked for two city governments. I've seen the "waste, fraud and abuse" and the laziness and ineffectiveness of more staff than you would imagine.
I agree. I am also a government employee (city not federal though). 10% cut across the board can be easily achievable, without having any impact on services.
