When you realize you were lied to about Trump and you were also told that his supporters were “alt-right” racists, antisemites, rednecks, etc. You know who many of his voters really were? Many of them are people who voted for Obama. And many of those people who would have voted for Bernie Sanders, who wanted a “political revolution” and some of those are your friends.

When you realize you were lied to about Trump being Hitler. Guess what? Trump is not Hitler and never was or will be.

When you realize that this is the best time in America to be a woman. Trump hired a woman to run his campaign and she delivered. Women were also in key positions throughout Trump’s campaign. Expect them to fill his administration. You might be sad about Hillary Clinton’s defeat, but it means that the first woman to break the glass ceiling probably won’t be someone who got a lift through marriage, or who used public office to enrich herself. That’s a good thing.

When you realize there are some things Obama did Trump won’t reverse. If you like your gay marriage, you can keep your gay marriage — really. Trump supports traditional marriage, but at this stage what that means is he will defend the right of a private business to refuse to participate in your union. And you may have missed it, but Trump was the first GOP nominee to talk openly about defending gays from persecution.

Trump has proven to be an incestuous and misogynist bigot. Stop the b.s.

Expect immigration reform to look something like you wanted. If you could ensure that most of the 11 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S. would stay here, but build a wall across the border to prevent any more from coming, you’d take that deal, because that’s what’s likeliest to happen.

When gay people eventually take over the GOP, the DNC will be in serious trouble.

Don't laugh. There is a real shift happening in the GOP and in churches. The younger generation of conservatives are very welcoming to gays. In the not too distant future, gay marriage will be accepted as just another marriage by the majority of conservatives.

Gay people tend to be fiscal government conservatives. I believe it's just the social aspect that is the issue, and that is evolving for the right.

Read this thing called the Constitution and learn to use it. There’s actually some good stuff in there, like checks and balances on the executive branch.

You may be familiar with how Obama and Democrats tried to destroy those checks and balances. One example of the left getting rid of checks and balances is Harry Reid and Democrats who changed the nuclear option from needing 60 votes to 51 instead. Now it's coming back to bite them.

Destroying checks and balances is one of the main reasons we fought so hard to resist Obama — and one of the reasons voters rose up against him.

The Republican Party has no checks and balances for the next four years. Republicans vowed to oppose President Obama on the night of his inauguration. Democrats owe Trump no less, especially after the birtherism. Telling them to "chill" seems a waste of time.

I do believe Republicans err'd in their opposition to gays, who, in my observation, tend to be a very affluent demographic. To say the GOP is welcoming to them is funny considering opposition to gay marriage was in the Republican platform in 2016.

Was that platform pushed by the new young generation of conservatives?

How long did it take Obama to "evolve" on his gay marriage stance?
