Democrats have a demographic problem, too (McCain, minimum wage, Clinton, border)

The percent of the USA that is "White Non Hispanic only" is in decline which looks like bad news for the GOP. But within the numbers of the White decline it is likely that White Republicans have a stable population while non religions Whites - a core Democrat group - have very low fertility rates and will soon have a rapid population decline.


This explains why the GOP has so far done great while the White alone population went from 90% to 66%. White likely GOP voters have maintained a stable fertility rate, enough to offset any growth among non Whites who are most likely to vote Democrat. This also means that the future of the Democrat party will be less based on White Liberal issues - mainly social issues like gay marriage - and more based on economic issues that more socially conservative non White Democrats care about like minimum wage.


The prevailing narrative of the media has been the nuclear family is in decline and the future is secular and non traditional. No more single family homes in the suburbs but only urban style apartments in the central city. But once today's crop of secular people with no children dies off all that is left are the children of religious people.

I've heard of white Liberals proclaiming such ridiculous things as "I won't have kids because they're white" or "They will be born into an unjust society". It doesn't really help their cause long-term.

This is interesting. I have read that Republican woman are more likely to marry earlier and have more children than their democrat counterparts. However there is no guarantee that child would grow up to vote republican just beacuase both their parents are republicans.

The Democrats have the real Demorgaphic problem, not only for the reasons that you have mentioned, but also because Asians and Hispanics who marry whites (and they do at massive levels) vote Republican and have kids who consider themselves white or partially white.

That is why Trump got more Asians and Hispanics than McCain or Romney, even as he lost a little of the white vote. Minorities are slowly but steadily being "whitened out."

Also, with Hispanic immigration in decline due to changing demographics and Trump furthering the process with border control, there are going to be fewer and fewer of them to whiten.

The racial alignments within parties are only going to become more absolute with time. In a relatively short time period, it's going to essentially be Whites vs non-Whites.

Thanks 1965 Immigration Act. Apparently all of the placating put forth in regard to its consequences, at the time, was a complete lie.

Maybe we should look into how, why, and who brought it about.

I think one of the reasons the media focused on the supposed trump rural blue collar vote was to divert attention on how the majority of whites voted for trump all across the spectrum, trump even won white millenials.

Trump beat Clinton among white women 53 percent to 43 percent. Clinton lost to Trump among white men by 63 percent to 31 percent.

Thats a pretty enormous racial divide considering how poor trump did among Blacks, Hispanics and Asians
