In 2000, Pres. Bush inherited one of the largest fiscal surpluses in U.S. history. Our fiscal deficit is due solely to Pres. Bush’s folly with his Iraqi War with its consequential aftereffects and NOT with entitlements. In fact, if income for Social Security/Medicare went into a locked box designated solely for that purpose, it would be solvent with a tremendous surplus. But, Congress stole that money for other non-related purposes. Raise taxes on the rich to cover these Congressional indiscretions.
In our supply-and-demand economy, the only way to truly stimulate the economy is to give direct help to the consumers, particularly non-affluent consumers, to increase demand. With this increased demand, businesses will consequently expand to meet the new demand and, in doing so, create new jobs.
