Lots of conversation going around, mainly out of curiosity, about line of succession during transfer of power.

Beyond disgusting! CNN sinks even lower as each hour passes.

If the same item was aired when Obama was to be inaugurated there would have been such a loud cry of protest and claims of racism you'd hear it all the way clear into outer space.

Won't happen. Trump will be sworn in privately at 12:01 am Friday, January 20, 2017. Just like Obama was in 2008 and 2012 because of the fear of an assassination attempt. Probably been happening for most President-Elects. The public inauguration is merely for spectacle. CNN probably knows this...by why report the news if you can gin up the assassination fantasies of a few left wing lunatics if you can.

I was not aware that an official sworn in happens, makes sense.

Now I am certainly no fan of the Clinton News Network, but could this possibly (and I'm just spit balling here) have anything to do with the fact that one of the most popular T.V. shows of this past fall was in fact called Designated Survivor and centered on this exact hypothetical scenario?

CNN's story seems to be soliciting an assignation attempt on Trump's life to me. The so called news has become repugnant to sane people and dangerous to our country.

Or maybe people were just curious what the process is? I remember back when Obama was elected the first time wondering about this same scenario. At that time, my high school government class had been ten years previous and I didn't recall what the procedure was. I think it's natural curiosity.

NO, it actually has to do with the fact that CNN always tells the public who the designated survivor is.

The oath of office at Noon on 20 January may very well be for show, but that does nothing to take away from the possibility raised by CNN's disgraceful report. The 20th Amendment to the Constituion states that the term of the outgoing president expires at Noon on 20 January and that the terms of their successors don't begin until after this! I'm not saying that a private oath at midnight doesn't take place, but that such an oath wouldn't have any immediate legal significance of an actual transfer of power.

Possible, Obama was sworn in 3 times his first day.
