Seems to me the Dems generally lay off the wives, and give them due respect. The kids, too. The Republicans go after the whole family. I recall Rush Limbaugh calling Chelsea Clinton, a young teen at the time, a pig. Remind you of anyone? Someone who calls less powerful people derogatory names? There are a lot of examples regarding Michelle Obama. Too many to list. The most disgusting names, since she is black.
Both dems and repubs get low grades when it comes to attacking the first wives and their kids. If you don't think so search through the CD forum for proof regarding the current family.
You know can honestly say never heard much about or from Laura Bush as FLOTUS. She kept to herself and the affairs largely associated with that role and didn't seem to meddle in affairs that didn't concern her, perhaps that is why she was so well liked.
Probably the most recall hearing from Mrs. L. Bush was in the days and weeks after 9/11/01. The FLOTUS did some television commercials and other media events aimed at families with children about how to reassure the wee ones that things were "safe". Again something you'd expect from a First Lady who herself was a wife and mother.
I have loved and admired all the first ladies even though I may not have agreed with their husband's politics. I have never understood why some are so nasty with their comments about our first ladies though.
Some have been nasty themselves generating criticism.
Nancy did bring a lot of Hollywood Grandeur and Luxury to the White House and I tihnk that did not go over well with some. It was probably uncalled for I eman did they not expect her to spend her own money?
Yes Barbara was more well like then dislike maybe it comments I read about her now
Don't think any of the former First Lady's were soft porn Models???Check it out.
Barbara Bush was criticized sometimes because her style was to be candid and she's not warm and fuzzy. I think some people are forgetting she was also criticized for her looks. People would say she looked quite a bit older than her husband, call her dowdy, etc.
Laura Bush was benign and never seemed to be under fire for anything. And I think people felt sorry for her having to put up with George...lol.
Nancy Reagan was criticized for being cold and aloof and nutty because of rumors that she would have psychics and astrologers go into the White House to help them with decisions.
" And I think people felt sorry for her having to put up with George...lol"
You should stop thinking, You are going to hurt something!
The police report of the car accident Laura Bush was in when she was 17 years old, which took the life of her friend, was made public years and years ago. It said nothing about being under the influence. It did say she blew a stop sign.
I seem to remember that old friends of Laura claimed that
she was the "to go to" for weed when they were younger?
Maybe it was in a book written about their wilder years or an interview of old friends?
I of course have no problem with that and thought it a fun fact
back then.
